A bunch on here that are reveling in English bashing, aren't we scum, what has this nation become blah blah blah...

Like ALL countries we have a minority problem who are knuckle head, racist, idiotic scum.

But for christ sake, it's a MINORITY, the majority of this country are decent people who contrary to belief act properly and take responsibility for their actions.

Seriously I'm surprised some of you on here don't become MPs, or church leaders as clearly you are people we should all look up to.

I suspect to get knocked for this, but surely there are people who like me are sick to death of the holier than though attitude that seems to prevail on here.

You believe that we are the most accepting, tolerant countries in the world. Not sure that is the case in the recent past. Not sure that casual racism is now just in a small minority either.

People that believe we are one of the most accepting, tolerant countries in the world really have their head in the clouds.

Living in London I have friends of many different backgrounds and races. Almost daily they tell me they face discrimination of some kind, sometimes silently, sometimes in the workplace, often on SM, but most disturbingly is the racism I actually see and hear aimed at them just walking and traveling about in London. And yes it has increased ten-fold since Brexit.

Most people are lovely, of course they are, empathetic, compassionate and accepting. That is not in doubt. But the minority so many are mentioning in various posts currently, is growing, and growing shockingly quickly i'd say.

I struggle each time I see this claim about how tolerant we are.

What is it we are being tolerant of exactly?

I would hate to put words into people's mouths but can't help wonder if they feel someone's colour needs any tolerating, for example.

Maybe I've misunderstood this and that's not what these people mean when they say it.

its not tolerance about colour i think but the need to feel they have to tolerate an individual being on our shores who they don't see truly as British.
People are more selfish than ever. It's people thinking certain people shouldn't be here as they are taking resources from others who have more of a right to those resources. Which of course is all absolute utter bullsh*t but with the likes of Farage, Patel spreading their hate and wickedness many are ill-informed.

Cracking research Miss Marple -

Perhaps you might have spotted my apology for that one, but I would imagine it was overlooked for the purpose of your post.

I just wanted to judge what others thought of the great and good preachers on here, you all must live such wholesome lives and I admire you for it.

For clarification, I think the knuckle draggers antics yesterday and the vile racist stuff after the game was deplorable. I find violence and racism disgusting. However I stand by my comment that its a minority and too many people get off on the narrative that everything is terrible.

You will be pleased I will stick to the Football posts on here from now on as I have worked out that thou shalt not go against the Cult of TWTD.

So, because racism comes from a minority, it should be ignored? Is that what you're saying?

You also appear to be saying that we shouldn't be criticising any English people for anything.

I'm not sure how criticising a minority becomes 'English-bashing'.

Nor does it imply a 'holier-than-thou' attitude.

Just to cover this off

1) show me where I've said that.
2) as above
3) I was referring to a narrative
4) some have that attitude on here, 100%
5) cheers, much obliged

Well. to be brutally honest, if I've misunderstood what you've attempted to say, you've said it really, really badly.

Your powers of expression need a bit of work. I say 'a bit of work' in the sense of a complete root-and-branch overhaul.

Cheers for your opinion which I didn't want. But thanks anyway.

I'm guessing that the 14 or so up voters get exactly what I'm saying, where as the usual suspects I was aiming my post at, have all gone to the effort of replying.

Isaiah 65:5 suggests that 'holier than thou' should not be hyphenated. Then again you are the 'English expert' so what do I know.

I agree wholeheartedly. I was just trying to highlight the recent tendency on the forum that sarcastically pulls folk up for spelling or grammar indiscretions. Though rather than thou did not distract from the posters point he was putting across.
