I love that song, it's tiers above STB.. STB has served us well for many years but I think it's time to let it go (not the song) and get some more modern music.
Throwing it out there.... on 13:43 - Jul 21 with 2416 views | Steve_M | It was good once against Norwich when it was spontaneous (the 2-0 Friday night game) and got co-opted into tedious ubiquity. It's a better option than Sweet Caroline which has been massively overplayed for years. Neither, of course, is as bad as singing about 'having a little scrimmage'.

Throwing it out there.... on 13:43 - Jul 21 with 2416 views | SWGF | Worse than the cheap, knock-off version of "Sweet Caroline" we had to put up with for far too long?
| |
Throwing it out there.... on 13:46 - Jul 21 with 2401 views | SomethingBlue | It's by a zillion miles the best among those options though, because at least it's "ours" to a greater or lesser extent. None of the others should be anywhere near, all so trite.

What, like Sweet Caroline from 1969 you mean?

Throwing it out there.... on 14:03 - Jul 21 with 2267 views | MerseyBlue | I like STB and EEJB. I know other clubs have variations of STB but they're our songs, they're feel good and I'd much rather hear them than anything like the generic dross that comes out of most clubs.

Throwing it out there.... on 14:08 - Jul 21 with 2235 views | stonojnr | The version the club recorded yes, but what do you expect it's a song sung by the fans from the terraces, which was quite good in it's original form, it wasnt designed to sound like a proper song by a band.

Throwing it out there.... on 14:24 - Jul 21 with 2115 views | Nazemariner | I respectfully disagree. It certainly ain't going to win any Eurovision Pop Contests, but it is an Ipswich Town song, and not a generic number like most chants we seem to pump out.
Throwing it out there.... on 14:25 - Jul 21 with 2109 views | dirtyboy | There's so many songs that would be great with a crowd behind it, but the moment has to be right. Having a nice day out? - "The Twist" by Chubby Checker, drunk dance moves included. We take this s*it too seriously, I'd twist all f****** day long if we were winning.

It is generic, though? Based on a '50s pop song covered by (amongst others) Daniel O'Donnell and Cliff Richard, used by a dozen other football teams, many of them before us.

EEJB's an original though, I think?

Throwing it out there.... on 14:38 - Jul 21 with 2037 views | judespiveyg | Idk, there's an innocence to it and EEJB which I kind of like, at least its ours. I've never really bought into having O Fortuna or anthemic orchestral music for football, always find it unnecessarily exaggerates the importance of the event. Its watching football, a Saturday afternoon passtime, and light-hearted songs like Singin the Blues seem a bit more appropriate. Don't need to feel like I'm going into battle before Ipswich vs Gillingham.

I think twee-sounding older songs are great if they're genuinely part of your club heritage and you've played/sung them consistently for years. The Barcelona anthem is a good example of that. I'm not sure EEJB is that though really. You'll go whole seasons without hearing it at all and bringing it in as a club anthem would feel a bit contrived I think.
