PC finding his 11 20:17 - Aug 14 with 2607 views | chrismakin | Heres an interesting take which might be worth a discussion. Transfers... All PC signings..... or some that are Ashton signings? We heard that Jacob's was a PC hope and Ashton etc weren't keen and then we got Edwards. At first I thought nah got to be PC signings surely. But could it explain him not knowing who's a 10 despite having a 10 in Fraser. (Not that he doesnt know him of course but more of a he doesnt fit the type of 10 PC would want... so that then makes me wonder why buy him... This isn't a get out clause or anything on results... just wandered what some of you may think. [Post edited 14 Aug 2021 20:22]

Its this bloody Fraser thing which is doing my head in lol. Why would you stick him on the flanks when you're looking for a 10.. hes never been a Wideman, tucking in or not hes just been central. I just dont see why you would buy him if you dont have any interest in using him in the positon he has always played. We didnt by Vladky and put him at left back. Just bizarre.

PC finding his 11 on 20:23 - Aug 14 with 2286 views | Churchman | Ashton with Cook along side explained the transfer process. If Ashton is bringing in players against Cook’s wishes, he has lied to the supporters’ faces. In addition, if you are Cook and somebody does that, would it make his position untenable and I’d expect him to walk. Its not as if he’d be short of job offers when the autumn sackings begin. There is no evidence that any of the signings are Ashton’s choices.
PC finding his 11 on 20:24 - Aug 14 with 2276 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Last season people said it wasn't his team. It's now his team, full stop. No excuses. Pick a consistent team, play the players in their best position. Stick with it.

Yeah. Not saying he hasnt been involved. Just wandered if plausible some may have been brought in for him rather than with him. Like the Aluko one as many said was a strange one... but followed Ashtons recruitment last summer at BC. Etc

His best position is as a 10. Cook doesn't play him there. Who knows why, but that's 100% on Cook!! Even if PC didn't sign him (which I don't believe), every man and his dog knows he's a No10. [Post edited 14 Aug 2021 20:27]

Didn't cook say earlier in the year that he has final say? Anyways, don't over think it. Cook is choosing to play Fraser out of position. It's his choice to do so.

PC finding his 11 on 20:32 - Aug 14 with 2198 views | BloomBlue | I think Edward's was an Ashton signing and PC wanted Jacobs, and the fact PC hasn't even mentioned why we pulled out of the deal tells us that. However all the other players are PC buys and he should know what position he wants them to play. I will admit I'm confused why Fraser isnt playing in the 10 position as I thought that was his best position.

Edwards is the better signing by far. Didn't cook say we had been after him all summer?

PC finding his 11 on 20:42 - Aug 14 with 2102 views | Asa | The two players for every position thing that Cook wants will see Edwards and Barry wide left. With Burns and Chaplin both missing, the two I guess he has for the right, with Aluko being a third man with Burns being the second man to KVY, then he’s shuffled what he’s had to try and get the best out of what’s available. I’m sure he is well aware of where he wants Fraser. The same place Crooks would have played if we’d have got him. It’ll be as a 10 once we have everybody available. Until then, like with Donacien, it’s a case of using what we have available. Going to be some square pegs in round holes for a few more weeks sadly.

There's absolutely no reason Fraser can't be played at No10 immediately. Under no circumstances should one of your best players be played out of position to accommodate someone else.

I get that But Fraser today on flank. Whilst Barry played the 10 who is a wideman Previously. Chaplin 10. Fraser left. When chaplin has been on the left before. If PC is comfortable that Fraser is a 10. Hed play him there and wouldnt be saying he needs a 10. Unless he isnt PCs type of 10 and hence why I find it weird buying him when hes not a Wideman. I'll leave it there.. but really hope he wakes up to it. Otherwise we are wasting the best 10 in this league.

He won’t be there much longer, I’d say he’s filling in while others get up-to-speed. Edwards will start there Tuesday i expect.

Agreed. Cook has made some eccentric decisions in my view. And this is within a system that he has set his heart on - nobody forced him to shoehorn players into it. Just like nobody forced him to get ride of certain players (player of the season, captain, etc.)
PC finding his 11 on 23:20 - Aug 14 with 1646 views | reusersfreekicks | Yep we know you love Cook and he can do know wrong in your eyes but this is rubbish
PC finding his 11 on 23:24 - Aug 14 with 1628 views | JakeITFC | From the two games I’ve seen (didn’t go today in the end) we effectively play three central attacking midfielders and the width comes from the full backs. Cook seems to prefer having two strikers in the 9/10 as shown by his starting lineups and subs to date. So Fraser is in a 10.5 position really rather than playing as a winger imo.
PC finding his 11 on 00:26 - Aug 15 with 1506 views | timothyeo | Its certainly concerning that Cook seems to be shoe Horning players into positions that isn't ideal, when he's had a full pre season to get the players he wants. He could change the system to allow, if he wanted to, or just play players in their natural and best positions. Instead hes doing nothing.

Then I have to wonder if he's over-complicating things or hasn't brought in the right players to get his tactical approach to work. I have similar concerns about the signing of Burgess, as he's played on the left of the three at Accrington and now we're expecting him to be the lead defender in a two. Fraser is a number ten, not a 10.5 or whatever we're trying to make him. Maybe it'll fall into place, maybe he's got the capability to learn the role but, as it stands, it feels like, in terms of our forward play, we're making something which should be simple pretty complicated.

Him playing wide doesn’t explain him missing a penalty which he would have buried last season. Just one of those things. It’s a frustrating start to this season but things will click and we will fly through this league when we do. We’ll finish top two. Anyone flouncing after two games is a bellend. Edit: Burton will be top six this year so not that big a deal anyway [Post edited 15 Aug 2021 0:41]

This is how i see it. We all saw fraser's heat map for mk dons when he signed - i bet it's about the same for us (except yesterday he was on the right of course). At the moment it's probably not a terrible thing he's playing slightly wide because whoever's been in the ten position for us hasn't seen any of the ball.
