"Top half or top 8" - of the sides you listed only Blackpool were bottom half and ended up being promoted. The others were all top half and not as far adrift of the top 2 as we are currently, a couple of them didn't even go up so not sure why you included them other than to back me up. Thanks for reinforcing my point though, appreciate it.

We're 1 place and 1 point off top half, which I said to you yesterday but you do like to ignore facts when they don't suit your narrative.

Precisely this. It's bizarre logic to suggest we should blindly support a manager who is failing on the pitch otherwise we are glory hunters. When you come into one of the bigger clubs in the division and they are sat just outside the top 6 and you tell everyone the aim is automatic promotion, to then only manage a handful of wins in the next 25-30 games even after a squad overhaul, that's not the kind of performance that earns you unwavering support. And rightly so. It's perfectly legitimate to question Cook given his results here and given some of the recurring issues with performances, even as recently as last weekend.
I mean, you really couldn't put a more negative slant on things than that...
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

You said top half or top 8. Your now suggesting you meant top half, as I showed that your top 8 quote was wrong in one in three cases.
You make a lot of reasonably good contributions to this board, albeit that I often don’t necessarily agree with what you say. But your contributions are often still good. But where I have an issue is that, in my opinion, you see yourself as some board prefect, the arbiter of fact. That is where I feel you let yourself down.

post of the day, but he'll probably come back on criticising your grammar and calling you a 10-year old!
i'm sure he's a lovely guy irl, but his keyboard warrior persona does grate...

He also makes his point "because we're not top half" and yet we're only 1 point and 1 place off it. So it's a rather moot, and dare I say it, pedantic point.

I have no idea what bumping means
Bump (verb) - Bump is an online slang term for the practice of posting comments to move an inactive thread to the top of a discussion board, in order to increase a message or thread's visibility.

I don't support Paul Cook, I support Ipswich Town, not sure about you. I can't glory hunt a manager, but I can have an opinion on whether they are doing a good job or not.
I also don't remember this level of blind praise being given to the members of the squad or Lambert last year, or Hurst. Should we have been supportive of Lambert and the squad last year, and been patient with them? After all, they didn't have the resources that we do now.
All those bullet points can just be summed up into "doing his job".
Completely disagree with you. If all those bullet points are, “just doing his job”, as in that’s the ‘bare minimum’, he’s head and shoulders over plenty before him so it only serves my point further that he should get credit for succeeding in areas where others have failed.
The difference is, this isn’t “blind praise”, it’s folk acknowledging the good they’re seeing that’s happening around the club not just waiting for results to take a turn for the better. Plenty on here just want results and will only back a manager when they get that. Their are different types of fans but with regard to you point about Lambert, any manager should be given time and patience but when they start making bizarre decisions that don’t make any sense, then they should come under scrutiny. Has Cook made those yet? Not in my opinion. In my opinion he’s done everything right since he’s been here and the club is better for it. I support Ipswich Town and much prefer the Ipswich Town he has a vision of more than most of his predecessors as it meets the standards of what this club should be about.

Well put. I agree, Herb is probably an alright bloke, but he does let himself down at times. Prefect like, that's very good.

It’s a bit flakey though isn’t it? It basically says Cook will get my support if he does well, which is in the same vein as glory hunting. I think the other factor is that it would mean only judging him on results alone when he should also be judged on everything else he’s done for the club too.
I don’t mind people changing their minds but some of the posts people write on here are pretty irreversible.
What's wrong with supporting manages who prove to be competent rather than ones we HOPE are competent?
It's surely more rational than making banners of managers who get us relegated or complaining about ones who generally kept us in etc top half of a higher division.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

big win last night
Fully behind the boys and will cheer on Cook, hoping he can actually get this team to string wins together.
However unfortunately I'm still not quite 100% convinced (in the man i wanted here and fully backed), i still think tactically something is not quite right and we fail to really control games in the way promotion winning teams do.
So a hell of a lot to do, and yes it has improved and being hard to beat is a good thing but we need to string wins together and have ideas to break teams down...I'm still not sure he is going to do that personally based on what i am seeing every week on the pitch.

Sorry but I just fail to be convinced by our manager. Sure we were ok but too many games the same thing. Need something from Rotherham or we have problems even competing this season. Not today but generally we are being outp performed by teams on a far smaller budget.
Today on its own is not an issue but coupled with our season is an an issue. We needed something today or otherwise we need 3 points from Oxford.

"In my opinion he’s done everything right since he’s been here". It seems the three lions and Mark Ashton disagree with that assessment.
