I think it'd be a cracking appointment, and show we really mean business as would have to give him a hell of a staff and salary

I don't see it though, must be out of our league?

You'd think so, but I'd imagine their mutual friend Mr Drogba may be able to put in a word for the intentions and type of people our US owners are.

I still can't see Lampard. Terry has potential legs though I would think.

I wouldn't respect him.

So i'm sure there are plenty of footballers that won't either. Many see past playing ability and look at the person that is leading them. Some have morals some don't

I'd hate to play for someone like John Terry personally.

Whatever the truth or otherwise of these links, it shows the calibre of man we're going after - or that people think we're going after.

The latter also giving some indication of whether it would be credible for such targets to seriously consider Town. If it's not thought far fetched by the press for those names to be seen in the hat, then the individuals themselves won't feel the need to reject us out of hand.

Which is a long-winded way of saying ITFC may have more clout in the managerial market than we fans, perhaps, believe.

Indeed. And let's not forget the Gamechanger lads persuaded Drogba to play for Phoenix Rising!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I am 100% sure that the next manager will be another marque signing, one befitting both Ashtons ego and the USA finances.

So you're against whoever they pick because you don't like Ashton.

Terry I could understand but I cannot see Lampard joining us when he turned down the scum in the prem just a few weeks ago!

He turned down the Club, not the league status. Don’t forget Lampard has already been interviewed for a job at this Club, so he clearly rates ITFC….(but not ncfc). The only reason he didn’t get offered the job was because he wanted £3m transfer kitty which Evans wasn’t prepared to give.

Same, I would be deeply unhappy and struggle to show my support for John Terry. If anyone wants to belittle this, I suggest they watch the documentary made by Anton Ferdinand.

Would love this. Didn’t think it was realistic but he absolutely would be my number 1 target.

Anyone doubtful of him as a manager should watch that interview last week with Gary Neville in Lampards local pub. In 45 minutes, I went from unsure as to Lampard as a manager to thinking he’d be the best appointment we could make.

Oh that's an excellent point r.e. Drogba. Hadn't thought of that.

Still think Lampard is out of our reach. Though I'd take either over Neil Lennon.

I think we may also lose sight of our wonderful history being a draw factor - getting us back to a position where we're at least considered a good side in the Champ must be quite appealing to managers who relish a challenge?

He'd be on outrageous wages for League 1, and I have no doubt he will want a good sized transfer kitty. Could be financially crippling.

I do think he is a good manager, an obsession with football, but would need MA to control finances I think.

I think beyond our stretch anyway.

But you can see from the few posters in this thread that many fans wouldn't respect him at all and that's with a limited number of responses.

I think that would be often repeated with more responses.

So are we saying it's fine for the fans to no respect the manager as long as the players respect the manager?

It's not just that, players are human beings with views on individuals' morals too. Whilst they *might* be professional enough to put their personal views aside, there's still a difference between that & positively playing your heart out & going the extra mile for your manager.

Well to be brutally honest nearly every manager has done things that people don't like - for some it gets whitewashed over and for others it gets spoken about more.

I wouldn't say John Terry is a particularly divisive figure, or a particularly bad character
