Harris done deal 22:56 - Dec 13 with 17013 views | portmanking | Rumours gathering pace on WhatsApp among a few people I know connected to the club that it's sorted. Bircham could indeed be part of Harris' coaching setup, which could explain his odds with the bookies. If this does have legs, I have to say I'm truly, truly gutted we've chucked Cookie for this lot.

Harris done deal on 23:23 - Dec 13 by N2_Blue | I'm a bit underwhelmed but moving on from Cook was still the right thing. It needed to be changed, it wasn't working. Harris could make things work, you never know. He's done reasonable jobs and been competitive almost every season he's managed. He may get things going, i'll be fully behind him and perhaps it's the manager that's most underwhelming out of the last few that has the most success. It's not like more favored appointments have done anything successful other than Mick |
I did think the same as your last paragraph. This might just be the one. Mainly thinking it to try and convince myself though.

As long as we play norwood as the 1, no problem! 😉

I don't know about that. Burns and edwards do the tracking back side of the game well - i reckon he'd get a lot out of them. Ditto norwood obviously. The direct 442 looked OK at wigan. Certainly reduced wigan's effectiveness and made them look ordinary. My guess would be we'd need a more defensive left back though.

Harris done deal on 23:40 - Dec 13 with 2365 views | ITFCBlues | He serves up some proper turgid football though doesn't he? Cook may not have got things clicking just yet, but he had the right ethics/style and I'd rather we gave him another 18 months than Harris myself. We really are scraping the barrel.

We are I’m afraid. It’s a reflection of what we are and where we are sadly. Oh well, it’s done now. You never know, he might be the perfect fit for us.

He'll play a quite a narrow 4-2-3-1 though, hoofing it up to Bonne or Pigott and, just like on Saturday, 90% of it will bounce off. So I'd worry that we'll be back to scrapping for second balls to build attacks, in a team that isn't really known for its scrapping qualities.

Harris has graft and percentages football ingrained in him from all of his playing and management experience. Anything other than that would just be foreign to him and then it becomes pot luck if it works for him or not... can we really take that chance right now??

Like mick at wolves when he had matt jarvis and the other winger whose name escapes me. I think wigan's probably a fair preview of what harrisball might look like.

Underwhelming sums it up really. That said, I almost don’t care who it is. We’ve become a real circus the last few years. Just need somebody in to win games in divisor fooking three.

Harris done deal on 00:50 - Dec 14 with 1625 views | Guthrum | Not particularly excited by Harris if he's a long-ball merchant as people say. But if it works and gets us out of this division, I shall be happy.

Harris done deal on 00:53 - Dec 14 with 1607 views | Cafe_Newman | Not aiming these comments at the OP (or any other individual) but it's sad to see so much "underwhelm" here and in other recent threads. Do GOOD managers/coaches really have a preferred formation which they persist with even when it's not working? I think BAD ones do and that's why we are in the mess we're in now. I'm optimistic that Harris (if he comes) will look at our better players and employ a system which attempts to play to their strengths. Isn't that what they're paid shedloads to do? It's a results-driven game and nothing's better than good results for us fans, the players and the club as a whole. I'd trade any formation that gets points over any other system that doesn't, and I'm not going to be negative about any manager until it's clear he's not up to getting results and getting us out of 3rd tier football. Harris done deal on 00:55 - Dec 14 with 1599 views | NorthLondonBlue2 | His win record at Millwall was decent, 41.6% over 4.5 years. His record at Cardiff over 14 months was a little worse at 38.7%. Paul Cook's record at Ipswich? 29.5%. But, Cook hit 44.8%, 48.6% and 41.3% with Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan respectively, so you can see why he was an attractive option. Frankly, who knows how good Harris will be? He could be the messiah or just another very naughty boy.
Harris done deal on 00:56 - Dec 14 with 1594 views | CokeIsKey | Think this would be a fine appointment, at least much more positive than some people here seem to think - has achieved a promotion, multiple playoffs and two FA cup quarter finals in his relatively short career. Not sure how true the sentiment is that he’s just a worse version of Mick, from what I have read his teams can go long if needed but are still perfectly capable of playing good football. “At Cardiff, however, fans were sceptical of their new manager, who had spent a brief loan spell with the Bluebirds in 2004. Gradually, Harris won them over. In his 30 Championship matches, there have been 14 victories, 10 draws and only six defeats. Harris has subtly evolved the playing style, building on the solid foundations laid by Warnock and adding a little finesse to what was a rudimentary - if once-effective - approach. Cardiff now seem more confident in possession, able to pass their way around opponents as well being able to bulldoze through them.” Mark Bircham would be a phenomenal coach too, upgrading from the Wigan kitman to an experienced uefa pro license coach is something else. Have heard a few Waterford fans who said he basically turned the club around but had to go because of a spat with the owner, but most were furious that he left.
