Phil - does pigott leaving now, mean a signing is close?

Leaves us short at the moment.

Think Pigott moving on is best for all parties - and wish him well.

Supposedly on good money, and given Pompeys financial constraints, I don’t think they will be paying a huge chunk of his salary.

Don’t think there will be a huge emphasis on adding another one.

Very much believe Hirst & Davis are live targets, but think neither will get done.

It doesn’t exactly leave us short. The Fridge has got his goal tally covered!

Given half a chance, you or I could match his goal tally!

Not if he were to find his 20 goal form at Pompey this season?

Maybe next summer if that happens, but not this year.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out for players at certain clubs, Piggott has underperformed but he never really got a consistent run of games and when he did play he looked isolated as no one was near enough to support him.

We definitely need to replace him, if it's not going to be Hirst then we need to move on to the next target

Surely his signing on fee will have been paid when he ... signed on?

I think they generally spread the fee over the contract for tax reasons. Don’t know what we would have paid him to join us, but add that to his wages.

Although if he's going on loan doesn't mean they are paying all of his wages.

Surely the Biggest Club In The South can afford them?

Don't think so. Think we're happy to get that done ahead of another signing. We've got Ladapo, Jackson and John-Jules. Reading between the lines of MA's comments at the weekend we'll have to wait to get Hirst, assuming we don't look elsewhere.

I have been talking with a senior Arsenal employee in my local pub tonight & he told me that Tyreece John-Jules was a "good lad".
That's all.

My cousin coaches there, well that's a lie, it's my cousin's husband. You think I can get hold of him?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Or if he goes all 'Macauley Bonne' and score a few in the autumn we could recall and sell in January?

He's just not a very marketable player. He will be 29 by January and have played his whole career (bar a few appearances as a youngster) in L1 or lower. Any move is going to be to a club in this division.

He's on a mega contract here with two years to run that he is not going to want to give up and very unlikely any prospective new club can match. I don't see a deal that we win from personally.

It doesn't leave us short because Pigott for whatever reason is nothing like what we need, losing Pigott is about as relelvant as losing Louie Barry last January

Great to fee up another spot and some wages though

Quite right.

He's effectively priced out of a permanent move to anyone who would be interested. I would love to know what % of his salary Pompey are picking up, you would think it must be meaningful otherwise we might as well have kept him around the place and not strengthened a potential 'rival'. My guess is they're paying him something in the region of £3k - £5k a week.

Aha I take your point but mine still stands. Pig has scored goals at this level.
There is practically no evidence of goals in this squad at the moment outside Ladapo Chaplin and Burns. This season fills me with dread.

This season fills you with dread? Really? Because joe pigott is leaving?

No. Because he's some edgelord that comes on the internet to say controversial things and disagree with people.

Nobody can be that wrong so often otherwise.
