Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or 22:40 - Aug 16 with 2730 views | homer_123 | two per game. As I said after Saturday and after Bolton...its evident how KM wants us to play. Its risky. Remember when people got so frustrated with MM being so defensive. The shackles are off. We are looking to move that ball at pace...one touch...pass, move and create space. As good as the squad is...they are not world class and it is inevitable mistakes will be made...but KM is giving them the freedom to play and as long as they are doing what he asks I doubt a player will be punished for it. For me...its a far more enjoyable watch than keeping it tight and trying to nick a win. We are finally playing some good, fast paced, attacking football. I don't care if Woolfy or Edmundson can't get it right 100% of the time or if Evans or Morsy play a hospital pass. There is finally a genuine intent to our play and that is so refreshing. Tonight, we mixed it up but we never stopped our intent.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 22:43 - Aug 16 with 2171 views | J2BLUE | Agree, for all their bombardment in the first half they had one shot on target. There will be a game where we probably concede 3 but overall the stats are insane. Played 23, conceded 11. I think that's just in the league although not 100% sure. One of the commentators said it.

Playing on the front foot and looking to impose ourselves as opposed to keeping it tight and not making a mistake. It's a modern Royle'esq approach and I'm sure will more quickly build confidence for the players...they know what KM wants and won't be torn a new one if the odd mistake happens. Even when it does...I bet this squad is starting to believe they can always score one more.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 22:50 - Aug 16 with 2064 views | jayessess | It also won't always be as hard as that. It's really hard to play through teams when the opposition are right on it with their press and your midfield are struggling to hold on to the ball. If your midfield is more on it, you play through the press, the pressure comes off you for a spell and you get to push up the pitch. If they keep losing it and the ball gets dumped on your head over and over again, the opposition hem you in, suddenly you're working much harder and making more mistakes. Or confidence that we'll get it right way more often than not? Yes...its risky but already we can see just how creative we can be against teams. And tonight wasn't our best XI either.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 22:52 - Aug 16 with 2028 views | Dubtractor | I'm fine with the high risk approach, and with the players we have we'll benefit more than we get punished for it, but there was a bit too much sloppy passing under little pressure tonight. Overall it was a great win, but you can bet that Mckenna will be focussing on some of that sloppy play to try and iron it out.

Ohhh we are far from the finished article for sure. Credit to Burton...that first half they pressed us like we pressed MK Dons Saturday. They forced a fair few errors in the first half.

Yes, for sure and Woolfie still had one absolutely howler, but I think we'd have struggled much more if we'd told the CBs to stop passing it.

Yep...we'd loose the ability to play out as well from the back with Burgess for example. We've yet to see Keogh.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 23:02 - Aug 16 with 1894 views | Churchman | Spot on Homer. Of course we are going to make mistakes and no doubt it’ll cost us the odd game, but if most of the opposition are playing hope for the best or worse, we will be just fine. The days of the prized point at home imprisoned by what we have, we hold, Skuse Dougles Hyam holding the line against garbage Rotherham, are long gone. Thank goodness. Four games, three wins one draw? I’d have bitten anyone’s arm off for that two and a bit weeks ago Well done the lads, KM and his staff. A really important win tonight..
Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 23:07 - Aug 16 with 1834 views | ReusersTown | Tbh I don't think the sudden shift in conditions helped them much tonight. Theft fine from playing on a comparative desert to a slip and slide. 0
Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 23:10 - Aug 16 with 1804 views | BondiBlue | Absolutely right. But i'm starting to think edmundson just isn't built for this style of play. He brings strength which is incredibly important in this league and he's quick enough to play a high line but looks very uncomfortable on the ball, and has done for a long time. Evans played very deep against MK and took the ball off him from a couple of yards. Think we might see that a lot more. Difficult in a game like tonight when the midfield's under a lot of pressure though.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 06:42 - Aug 17 with 1521 views | powinswitch | When teams come to Portman Road and park the bus, we have to play at pace and take more risks to break them down. I think we have to start like that from minute one. The fans will need to accept that the players will make more mistakes and moves will breakdown. But possession football alone, lacking pace and the ability to move a team out of shape will not imo see us win enough games for top two.
Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 06:46 - Aug 17 with 1516 views | GavTWTD | I agree but we might be thinking differently had we lost the match. We made a lot of errors last night, I've not seen Harness' long crossfield mistake mentioned either, and these need to be cut out of their game wherever possible. Had Burton been more clinical it would have been very different. That said, I so enjoyed the goal and final whistle. Felt very important that we extended the run and increased our lead at the top of the table!

Even playing our style, we are usually better than that. The team have higher standards. No need to go overboard and make it into a thing, but we also shouldn't pretend that first half was on par.

Not perfect by any stretch, room for improvement. The first half in particular Burton really closed down and forced a few of those errors though...credit to them. My observation from the start of the season is that it will be unlikely we'll get through a game without a mistake or two. I think it's the way it's going to be given how KM has set us up. It's not going to be dull!

Yeah, agree with that. It is part of the risk and reward of KM style. We have a good chance of promotion this season, so I intend to enjoy it, mistakes and all.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 07:28 - Aug 17 with 1352 views | NthQldITFC | We're playing (and getting used to) a style which will serve us well in the 2nd Division, and it's worth a few sub-optimal performances here and there to get the squad familiar with what's going to be needed next year.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 08:17 - Aug 17 with 1198 views | Coggyblue | completely agree with this post - way too many fans focussing only on the loose passes, slips or mistakes, and completely overlooking why they are occurring. We're playing a style of football now that only works if every single player on the pitch is committed to the quick pass and move, it is delightful to watch when it works, and of course frustrating when it doesn't - but my word it is so much more enjoyable than anything we've witnessed over the recent years. As you say, this is a good league 1 side, not a top prem team and so we have to expect mistakes, and be ready to lift morale when needed.
Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 09:03 - Aug 17 with 1054 views | Bluedandy | Woolfenden errors are too frequent ... at least one goal threatening glaring / basic mistake per game it seems. Mostly they result from poor concentration and awareness rather than a reflection of KM style of play. Needs to stamp out as better teams will punish them. [Post edited 17 Aug 2022 9:05]
