Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or 22:40 - Aug 16 with 2731 views | homer_123 | two per game. As I said after Saturday and after Bolton...its evident how KM wants us to play. Its risky. Remember when people got so frustrated with MM being so defensive. The shackles are off. We are looking to move that ball at pace...one touch...pass, move and create space. As good as the squad is...they are not world class and it is inevitable mistakes will be made...but KM is giving them the freedom to play and as long as they are doing what he asks I doubt a player will be punished for it. For me...its a far more enjoyable watch than keeping it tight and trying to nick a win. We are finally playing some good, fast paced, attacking football. I don't care if Woolfy or Edmundson can't get it right 100% of the time or if Evans or Morsy play a hospital pass. There is finally a genuine intent to our play and that is so refreshing. Tonight, we mixed it up but we never stopped our intent.

Get used to the odd misplaced pass...and gifting a chance or on 09:03 - Aug 17 by Bluedandy | Woolfenden errors are too frequent ... at least one goal threatening glaring / basic mistake per game it seems. Mostly they result from poor concentration and awareness rather than a reflection of KM style of play. Needs to stamp out as better teams will punish them. [Post edited 17 Aug 2022 9:05]

He wasn't the only one last night. Morsy, Edmundson, Cats Nephew and Harness all made quite significant passing errors last night. In the first half, this was very much down to the Burton press, which we initially struggled with. As time progresses and we grow in confidence I am sure they will become less but they won't be completely eradicated. The trade off is our ability to be able to play from the back to the front.

Last night the count was definitely higher than normal and Burton in your face physicality was a big factor. Accept your premise about style of play ... but for me Woolfenden is different ... undoubtedly loads of natural talent on the ball ... but consistent lapses of concentration have been a feature of his career. Was hoping that as he got older they would reduce but not seeing much evidence so far ... at any higher level he would not last long in the first team. [Post edited 17 Aug 2022 9:20]

I suspect that is partly why Keogh has been brought in, to firstly stand in when Woolf loses form and hopefully to teach him how to be a defender , not a third division equivalent of Beckenbauer.

I was there last night and I’m probably one of the guilty ones in having a dose of the heebie jeebies in the first half. Don’t get me wrong I love the way we play but it just felt to me that we needed to play the percentages a bit more in the first half. We looked far more comfortable on the ball in the second half, bar Wolf’s clanger.

As I've stated though, that first half, you have to credit Burton for closing down and pressing so quickly - that forced a number of mistakes. You quite rightly say the second half was better and this was because we started to impose ourselves, we were wider and more up the pitch forcing Burton back, and Burton tired which meant we were not under the same pressure as the first half.

Spot on about Burton. That’s my point really. If your opponents are pressing you really well at the start of the game, perhaps change the play a bit. The time will come when we can impose ourselves in the gamel

That's precisely the purpose of Burton pressing us though! They press us, we knock it long, they get the ball back quickly, they spend less energy pressing, they get another opportunity to hit a long ball and press us. They've successfully turned a football match into a match of knocking it long to play for territory, a contest they're better equipped to win that negates the gap in skill between the two teams.
