lol, firstly, Ladapo can stay on onside.
Also, Bonne had half a season and showed nothing under KM to show he's right for the system. |
But to be fair to Bonne
Firstly he was waiting on loan to be extended in January
Secondly had a family tragedy and probably a whole lot going outside football.
The first few Months he was tremendous for us. If we get better great if not I'd take back Ladapo gets a injury we have a youngster who may or may not do it

Hard to find an obvious and doable target in the Prem, not that we necessarily do obvious these days. Lyle Taylor perhaps the most glaringly available, experienced centre-forward who could strengthen us. Someone like Shoretire would be an intriguing wild card but many will be in. But looking up and down the leagues I'm struggling a bit for inspiration unless we can attract someone in the second or third tiers who is currently playing for their side. |

Think we're in want territory rather than need for me. I don't quite buy into this 'ridiculous squad for this level' rhetoric but we've certainly got a good squad, well balanced, I think bar the first half an hour against Bolton and same at Burton we've dominated every team we've played. That includes some sticky opposition including one of the in form teams from last season in Bolton, the side that finished 3rd last season and 1 point off automatics MK Dons, and Barnsley who came down from the Championship. Not to mention FGR where without sounding too big time was arguably the biggest league game in their history. Trips to Burton and Shrewsbury aren't easy either, clean sheets and 3 points in those games will take you a long way. We look really polished, well drilled, I really like what I see. I think some people have unrealistic expectations at times and it's almost as if we should never concede a goal. Its funny that we're sat on 4 wins and 2 draws and some are feeling disappointed, which is a sign of how far we've come.
I'm not desperate for us to sign players for the sake of it, if they're not out there or not value then I'm happy if we keep our powder dry. In the middle we've already got Ball as cover for Morsy or Evans, Aluko as he gets older might find himself a little deeper at times, and young Humphries who I would love to see given a pathway as cover in there. It's unlikely we'll upgrade on Morsy, Evans, Ball so I see little point in adding someone to sit on the bench when we have talented youths who should be exposed to a senior team environment.
Chaplin & Harness have cover in TJJ and Aluko. We're a touch light up top, Lapdapo and Jackson are hard workers and will graft but I'm not sure they're in the same league as Peterborough and Sheff Wed options, arguably even Pompey, Derby and a few others. I'm in the same camp as you - why fill a gap if it's not going to improve the squad ?
My only worry is injuries up top - think we're covered elsewhere but if we lose either Jackson ,JJ or Ladapo we're very light |  |

I don’t think we’ll be bringing in a central midfielder - I think McKenna believes the four we have is enough. If we bring someone in, then I think Humphreys will be sent out on loan.

We look very good overall but getting that striker in — and perhaps someone who can thread a pass too, because we do miss that Celina-type option — would push us from comfortable play-off prospects to highly likely top two. | |

We've got 18 league games until the January window opens and I would say the key to a very good first half of the season is probably those core 6 players starting at least 14 or 15 of those. Of course we have able cover in Aluko, KVY, Ball etc who will all play a part, but I think that centre mid / "number 10" quartet in particular really makes us tick with their cohesive press, quality on the ball and goal threat. Its no coincidence for me that the two convincing 3-0 wins came with that 4 starting. We lost something at Burton without Chaplin, and on Saturday without Harness IMO. | |

Yeah I actually went to Burton with my youngest lad and I said I was looking forward to watching Chaplin and he didn't start but when he came on there was so much more creativity - really need him to stay injury free to be fair

The team is scoring goals. We don't get extra points for striker goals.
If we're getting results and scoring goals I don't see the problem. Harness and Chaplin each have three. Some people would be much happier if they both had zero and Ladapo had six. I don't get it. |

In his last game alone Jackson won the ball in the air and flicked it on for the Harness disallowed goal and won the corner that Fridge subsequently headed against the bar. | |
