What is everyone's unpopular football opinion.

Mine is that Rio Ferdinand was not that good of a defender, he was just lucky with who he played alongside (Terry, Vidic)

Expecting down votes galore!

They're the epitome of tinpot. Participants ffs :)

When neutrals talk about ITFC they talk about football and footballing greats. When they talk about Norwich it's either about chefs and Stephen Fry and Edmundo Balls, or it's to criticise their toothless efforts to compete in the Premiership.

If Ipswich didn't have a team I'd support Norwich.
I was brought up on the Suffolk/Norfolk border, so would have supported my local team.

For the avoidance of doubt, I don't like them.

Completely agree about Ferdinand. He could make a decent recovery challenge, but that was essential as he had the positional sense of a stoned newt which is what often got him or his defensive partner into trouble in the first place.

Mick McCarthy was a better manager than Kieron McKenna is.

But hopefully that will no longer be true in a couple of years.

That's not an opinion is it? That's just a fact until McKenna finishes well above his budget etc Can't really judge that for a decade or so. Hopefully he'll have the opportunity on the top stages.

I agree with you. I don’t think I’ve ever met a Norwich supporter who I dislike. They get behind their local team and go to games. I’d much rather talk football with one of them than an armchair Liverpool or Man U fan who has never been near Anfield or Old Trafford.

I desperately want us to beat them we play them and want them to lose every game they play but that’s just because it’s how it is as an Ipswich fan. I can’t stand West Ham, Spurs, Man U and Liverpool for far more valid reasons than them happening to be fairly local to us.

Poll: Most enjoyable calendar year as an Ipswich supporter

Our academy has been bang average and produced very very little for the last 20 years.

I'll see your Robson and raise you David Beckham.

Couldn't head or tackle. Fooled people into believing doing lots of running was on par with skill. Could only ping a pass/cross when under no pressure at all. Slowed down any momentum at corners/free kicks from the left by walking over making sure the photographers could get their snaps of him before failing to beat the first man 99 times out of 100. Went to the World Cup injured in 2002 purely to promote his brand and bottled tackles so he wouldn't get hurt, especially in the buildup to Brazil's equaliser. Did very little after that Greece game for England apart from a penalty against Argentina.

Easily the most overrated of the Golden Generation...

Wayne Rooney was generally a poor player for England who, after one good tournament (Euro 2004), failed to make any impact whatsoever at three World Cups and two further European Championships, and whose goal scoring record for England was amassed by sticking goals past no-mark teams in qualifiers that no-one even remembers.

Steven Gerrard was the most overrated player of his generation, with a poor first touch and an absurd predilection for glory passes to nobody. The pressure to accommodate him and Frank Lampard led indirectly to the ludicrous early international retirement of Paul Scholes, one of the best European midfielders of the last 30 years.

Lionel Messi is a fine player but should never be seen as one of the greats and is not fit to lace Maradona’s boots.

In my opinion Trent is a central midfield playmaker, his vision and passing would make him excel there. His defensive capabilities rule him out being a top class full back and his pace rule him out being a top winger. He is only so effective as a full back for Liverpool because Fabhino and/or Milner have the work rates and defensive skills to cover him.

Yeah he's very talented but he's well protected by Klopp's system. England already have centre-backs who need shielding so to add another player with questionable defensive capabilities is too much of a risk.

England's squad suits the 3-4-3 system and the wing-backs need to stay wide because they're the only source of width and Trent has a tendency to step inside.
