What's that Mark.. 2nd half of season needs to be better? on 20:54 - Nov 21 by SpruceMoose
Misclicked, supposed to be an uppie
No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

It's actually quite puzzling, and I can quite easily see this being turned into an Oscar winning film starring Tom Hanks,. A story telling the tale of a man trying s to understand his obsession. And failing. Badly.
His entire posting history is that of a man who made a ludicrously embarrassing hot take and rather than hold his hands up and admit his mistake, he's decided to double, triple and quadruple down on it.
In much the same manner as a bloke who once shat himself in public trying to claim that he LIKES walking around in besh1tted pants in the mistaken belief that it gives him more gravitas and dignity.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
I think the 'probably' in there indicates that he doesn't mean the first half has not been good enough, more that it's developing into a three horse race that might require more points than usual to clinch automatic promotion.
It's a truism anyway, he's not going to say we need a second half of the season probably worse than we've had in the first half
To be fair, McKenna hasn't been pretending things are perfect, either. However, the context of that quote implies not sitting on our laurels, but that the team will need to keep pushing hard to be where we want to be at the end of the season - and reinforcing the squad to help that.

He's is to ridiculous football takes what the T-1000 is to tracking people down and murdering them. Relentless.
Pronouns: He/Him/His.
"Imagine being a heterosexual white male in Britain at this moment. How bad is that. Everything you say is racist, everything you say is homophobic. The Woke community have really f****d this country."

OK, assuming your take on this quote is accurate, how many points do you think it will take to finish top two? We are currently on ppg to get 99.
Depends how others do doesn't it.
I would suggest we would need to improve our home form and to ensure we don't throw away points when so close to 3.
Which tbh is all some posters have wanted before getting jumped on by the usual posters. Which is quite funny as those same posters are the first to jump on this one. ( not yourself. You actually tend to discuss things)

You probably didn't take into account what lies behind the actual quote.
That’ll go well over his head.
90% of the time I feel Frimmers gets a bad deal on here, but just as I’m feeling justified in thinking he’s hard done by, he goes and does another Frimmers

I'm only replying to you in the interests of facts and accuracy and without and opinion or commentry of my own.
You've completed ignored the word "probably" which makes the context of the quote completely different to the title of the post.

Go on then how so
If he's saying probably due to Wednesday being right behind us then he's still saying we need to improve on first half season, if there's nothing to improve then you don't need to do better.

I'm not here to teach you English, I suggest a GCSE at the local evening classes if you don't understand how the word probably in that sentence doesn't change the context.

If last season is anything to go by, then there will be teams pushing hard in the final months up to May. Given we're second now, improving upon the first-half performance will cement our status at the top. Slacking at all could see us overtaken.
The best way to maintain position is to keep finding ways to do things better and (in the specific context of those remarks) strengthen the squad.

You’re almost there. He’s saying we probably need to improve (to guarantee a place as it’s so tight). It’s not a criticism though, it’s a statement of ambition. You’ve turned it into a criticism.

You could well be right. However that also goes against the views of those who felt we didn't need any signings..

Mark: “No Frimley, I said probably better. Please use your ears, then comprehension, and then context. Look if we want to be ultimately where we want to be, which is top, then we need to be better than second, this isn’t difficult Frimley”
