You wonder how long it'll be before he's their new manager especially if they drop down a league. I still worry about losing McKenna but hope he's with us for another couple of seasons at least. New contract please Mr Ashton.

If we challenge strongly next season it will be open season.

The higher he takes us, the better an offer would have to be to attract him. He is here for the project I am sure of that. I can see him leaving for Man Utd or Tottenham but neither of those are going to look at him just because he has done well in the Championship.

Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 15:57 - May 1 with 3145 views | tractordownsouth | Even if Everton go down I think they’ll stick with Dyche. I think McKenna is more likely to be a target for bottom half Premier League teams than Schumacher because of his coaching background, although hopefully that’s not the case.

If we’re backed properly, I don’t think any other Championship club would be seen as enough of a step up to risk what he’s got here. If he got a Premier League offer, that would be a different story.

That depends. Any Premier League offer is likely to come from a club in a mess. He knows everything is being run well here. Why take a contract at a lower Premier League club if he already sees himself taking us there? I think it would have to be a very special offer to attract him away from us.

I imagine we’ll be susceptible to clubs like Brighton and Brentford, clubs with similar (if a slightly different) infrastructure to ours. Possibly Southampton too as they operate under similar circumstances, but they’ve been a bit of a basket case for a year or 2 now.

Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 16:09 - May 1 with 2961 views | bluelagos | For me, I see only a handful of clubs being potential poachers of KM. Anyone in the Prem - don't see it - why appoint a manager with nil premier league or even championship experience. Championship teams - not worried - why would KM jump ship to move to a club on a par with Ipswich? The ones that worry me are the 3 who come down from the Prem. Everton, Leeds, West Ham whoever - can see them being interested and can see KM looking at them as a step up. Keep KM this summer, and I think he gets a chance to keep on building, push for the Prem in the next 2 or 3 years...fingers crossed. But the number of managerial moves at the top of the game, is defo a risk for Towen.

Exactly this. He won't be offered a top job in England until he's managed another Premiership club first. I don't think he'd look at saving a club from relegation, but he'd be a good bet for a premiership club looking to give a manager time in a project, probably a freshly relegated one. I'm pretty confident we'll not lose him this summer, touch wood, we just have to make sure that he wants to.stay with us for longer than that.

Yeah, Brighton is where my money would be - if such a market exists. Given the season they have had, if De Zerbi gets poached I’d be worried. Obviously a nice problem to have, because if a higher club are interested then he will have to continue to be performing well.
Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 16:25 - May 1 with 2746 views | EastTownBlue | If we have a decent start to next season the traditional Autumn managerial sackings could be a bit risky for us but in terms of KM moving on.
Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 16:26 - May 1 with 2735 views | burnbudgiesburn | I'm not so sure the likes of Brighton or Brentford would be seen as an attractive move from Ipswich. Both those clubs are very much at or near their ceiling at the moment, so the only way is down. I think the only clubs i'd fear is a Leeds or Everton in the champ but whether they would take a risk on a manager with 18 months experience at L1 level is doubtful. Bottom line is, when McKenna goes we will be in a much better position than he joined us in and on the day he was appointed that is all we could really have asked. I feel as long as we match his ambition, he'll be here a few years yet.

Can't see him going. He's being well backed here and is one promotion away from being a legend.

Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 16:31 - May 1 with 2667 views | lizzibee | I'm not worried. As Ashton said, this is just the beginning and they are clear they wan't o be pushing for promotion again next year. He knows how well run this club is and the support he gets and I can't see him jumping ship to a different club. He has a plan and I'm confident he'll be around to execute it.

I think he will be looking to build a career rather than make a quick buck. Why jump ship from a project he knows is working to start again somewhere else? Ultimately there are clubs that will be able to offer him more than we will be able to. He is a very long way from attracting their attention yet.

I'd like to think so too. It's a very happy marriage and these aren't easy to find in football. Everyone's stepped up on and off the pitch, which I've no doubt he's looking forward to christening next season. [Post edited 1 May 2023 16:47]

I think while the project (which is ultimately a return to the prem and stay there) is complete the only jobs that would interest him would be top half premier league and as others have said they would be very unlikely to take a punt on him just yet. Of this likely to come down I’m not sure they would either and viewed from the other side Leeds and Everton are basket cases. Maybe Leicester, although I don’t think they will actually get relegated. Of the current championship clubs I don’t think he’d view any/many of them as a step up
Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 17:02 - May 1 with 2367 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | I really like Schumacher, comes across as a really goods guy done a fantastic job at Plymouth. He and McKenna seemingly get on really well. Two great young coaches.

Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 17:23 - May 1 with 2226 views | Grumpy_Old_Man | I despair at such posts that KMc might go elsewhere. I believe him to be a very level headed young man who has made a committment to ITFC by signing a 3year+ contract approx 16 months. He has a wife and young family who made a sacrifice to move from the Manchester area to Suffolk so I don't think he is going anywhere for a long time. Yes, there will be interest, but I do not see him as someone who will move around the country on a whim. He has great support from the Owners, so it is my opinion he is here to stay and will take Town on to greater things.

Possibly, but I suspect he wants to go through the process of taking us to that level rather than jump to that level without taking a club there. I think his satisfaction comes from building something great rather than inheriting a nice building that someone else has built.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’ll go this summer. But if we have a relatively successful season next year, then next summer could well be interesting (if not beforehand).

Just seen Schumacher interview on SSN on 18:31 - May 1 with 1741 views | Daninthecampo | I think Mckenna will be here for the next 2 to 5 years, by then we'll be in the Premier league, i can then only see him leaving for a club looking to win trophies so top 6-8. Theoretically if we match his ambition he could stay longer but realistically we will never be able to compete the Manchester clubs,Arsenal,Liverpool etc Let's enjoy him while we can!
