Andy Warren's off then on 20:44 - May 16 by olimar | Id assumed the club wanted to get rid of iFollow and get hold of that audience themselves. But it does seem like Sky have had the same idea. Currently, when we play on a Tuesday night, then iFollow is doing great business, which Town TV could claim instead. But if Sky are going to be doing it already, particularly as part of a subscription, Im not so sure the UK market will be the same. And iFollow does well on VPNs for 3pm kick offs, but Sky are going to move almost half of the weekend championship fixtures into other slots so they can stream them anyway.... |
Don’t forget Tuesday night games are on the red button in the Championship as well. TownTV won’t solely be about just screening the games anyway, will be loads of other content I’m sure.

I expect Town TV to be a bit like what Derby have on their YouTube, with an after much reaction show, something like that. Then a little bit like the Lions Den that England do when they are at major tournaments.

Yeah, I assume we wont sell many iFollow subs next year for Tuesday night games when they are on red button. I dont know that people will pay for non matchday content, although I guess plenty subscribe to MUTV and whatever and they dont broadcast games either. I just imagine that the demand for Town TV will be much much less when its only for 3pm sat kick offs with a VPN (or our overseas followers)

Andy Warren's off then on 22:17 - May 16 with 3509 views | PioneerBlue | Lions Den is the only thing that I have really engaged with from ‘another club’ perspective and it’s is excellent. Itfc could do loads, at the training ground, with and without players, q&a for kids, post pre and post match content blar not blar

Don’t suppose he’d be involved with a mic around the time a match is imminent, and during a game, would he? (Or am I hoping too much?)

Andy Warren's off then on 08:46 - May 17 with 3089 views | iamipswich | Doesn't sound like the most enthralling gig compared with what he's currently doing imo, but the opportunity to work for the club you support plus what is probably a very attractive financial package would be very difficult to turn down.

A good chunk of that, and probably the rest being made up by knowing which way the wind is blowing for local media these days.

Yes I agree entirely. While I am subscribed to the EADT for now, I'm not sure if I will be when it rises to £7.99 on top of my many, many other subscriptions. It's also a shame that Andy won't be impartial now if ever he's writing/speaking on Ipswich because that was a real strength of his and Stuart Watson's.

Yep, and I wonder given the recent news and backlash, it was the straw that broke the Camels back.

Andy Warren's off then on 11:32 - May 17 with 2873 views | franz_tyson | If the EADT dont replace Andy Warren properly then they're in danger of really f#cking things up when everything Town related is on a high. Does feel like this could be a sinking ship with Andy jumping first. We do need good objective journos to cover Town. I think some expect Andy now to be a journo for the club, but he'll be promoting the club and not giving a balanced account of everything Town. Great opportunity for EADT to ride on the Town wave while we're on a high..... but they seem to be screwing it up with the subscription thing. Who's going for the £7.99 a month subscription when a chief writer has now left?

Presumably some involvement in terms of replicating iFollow but am told not a Town TV appointment per se. They've already added someone, Jess Winlow, for that sort of role.

Phil: Jess Winlow appears to have a marketing and communications background, and doesn't appear to have any prior football experience. That suggests her role would not have been suitable for Andy Warren, and also that she is unlikely to be a presenter on Town TV. That being the case, and assuming Andy Warren may have no, or only a limited, role with Town TV, do you have any knowledge of who they have appointed to be presenters, co-commentators and the like? I assume Glenn will be the commentator. [Post edited 17 May 2023 20:55]
