The Queens funeral cost the taxpayer... on 16:53 - May 18 by Vaughan8
Without me spending hours reading through it all, is there a summary of the figures. Too many words for me! haha
The grant they get is £86m(?) which in the whole scheme of it, isn't actually that much.
Again, the general public will be frauding the Country of £4.9 billion from just BB loans (which is apparently more than Charles whole wealth of £1.8billion), as well as the added FUrlough fraud (will be loads as HMRC weren't and can't keep track of it all).
There is much bigger issues than the money given to the royal family.
Thought we got £350m a week extra from Brexit to go to the NHS........

It all adds up and has a collective impact though:
£86m p/a here £186m for a funeral there £250m for a Coronation here £1.3bn for a Coronation bank holiday there
It's an utter fallacy to suggest that we can only tackle/focus on one particular issue at a time. I'm sure that the monies listed above, even if they're not at the same level as the money lost to Bounce Back fraud, would still do a hell of a lot of good in deprived areas.
Baffled by the downvotes. Factual reporting around the massive drain on our economy from the monarchy always seems to be greeted with this type of stuff.
The fact that Tory corruption dwarfs it, or the levels of poverty are shameful in this country isn't a counter argument at all. For centuries they've taken far too much, horded far too much and have no place in this country.

Pfttt - tourism in the UK would be decimated without them. Nobody’s ever visited France since the Revolution!

Don't forget unrecovered PPE fraud (Mone etc.) which the Guardian estimated at potentially £630m -

They're some of the richest people on the planet, with £100s of million in income from public property, thanks to David Cameron's funding deal, and people are happy that it's been paid for by the tax payer? Honestly, I don't get this country, at all.
If you want to know more about the true cost of the Crown, you could do worse than catching up on the fascinating investigative journalism the Guardian have conducted recently on the topic.
The Queen was worth around £500m in terms of her private wealth. As the royals don't pay inheritance tax (why?) perhaps a suitable quid pro quo might have been for her wealth to fund her funeral & Charles's own coronation. He's also a very wealthy man in his own right so he certainly didn't need to inherit £500m, bearing in mind the taxpayer will be funding all his expenses for the rest of his life. These examples that "this is only 11p for every person in the UK" are meaningless drivel & a way of watering down huge, wanton expenditure.

It's not unlike Stockholm syndrome.

I think they should be pensioned off (or guillotined), but this is small fry. Prince Charles should have stumped up himself, though, as the tight git was about to inherit 4 and a bit billion.
Of course, interesting to see how laissez faire everyone suddenly is over state expenditure. I thought there was no money to go around and there's no magic money tree etc. etc.

While I accept that a (fairly small) majority currently prefer a monarchy to a republic, that doesn't mean that the royal family's huge tax breaks & expenditure shouldn't be questioned. For some reason of deference, they seem to be seen a near untouchable. Several other European countries have monarchies, but they don't have vast privileges & umpteen castles, but seem to lead relatively normal lives. I think I'm going to wait a long time for King Charles's "slimmed down monarchy".
I'm sure this came up at the time but whether it's a member of the Royal Family or a President Blair, the state always pays for the head of states funeral, that's just the deal
