Leicester got kmck on their short list on 08:17 - Jun 6 with 2024 views | ArnieM | They haven’t a hope in hell of getting him. When does eventually leave it’ll be to one of the top 5PL clubs. Nothing else is an improvement for him with the set up we have here.

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 08:21 - Jun 6 with 2017 views | BloomBlue | A team who have won the Premier League and FA Cup in the last 10 years, versus a team who finished 2nd in L1. A team even after selling a few will still contain a lot of players with Prem experience, versus a team hopeful of attracting a couple of youngsters from Prem teams. Personally I don't think Leicester would go for KMCK, but if they did I think a good chance he would jump. If Leicester go for a manager with 'lower league' experience it's more likely they will go for Schumacher.

come on.. a bit of realism is needed, mid table premier league teams will be light years ahead of us if they are being run well for training facilities, stadium and infrastructure. I don't see him leaving for many Championship clubs but a club like Leicester would be attractive to him i think it's naive to say it isn't.

I think it is a defence mechanism some fans take - Graham Potter is the odds on favourite for the job......if Leicester can attract Graham Potter then they can attract Kieran McKenna It is up to Ipswich to show McKenna that it is best for him to stay here, and this will involve giving him the backing required to compete at the top end of this league this season. Ipswich is a great place to be, but if we are aiming for a season of stability next year, and to try and push on a bit the year after that won't be enough to retain KM when these jobs do eventually come calling - we need to give the man what he wants

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 21:53 - Jun 5 by SheffordBlue | Parachute payments - their budget will dwarf ours. They also have one of the best training facilities in the country. |
They are financially bust. Their parachute payments are all tied up servicing a loan which was based upon Premier League income until 2025.

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 09:44 - Jun 6 with 1685 views | monty_radio | I appreciate that Leicester is a club that now looks and feels Premier, but isn't. But that means that success in taking them back up wouldn't put much credit in the bank. The penalty for failure would be much greater than the kudos accrued via any initial Championship success.

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 09:52 - Jun 6 with 1655 views | Naylorsrightboot | He won't go anywhere yet. What would be the point? He is building something here and has the backing. Why ruin all that for clubs that won't give him time and want immediate success. Look at Chelsea and Potter as an example, they were never going to give him time to build what he did at Swansea and Brighton. You have to hit the ground running or they aren't interested. The likes of Kieran, Potter, Schumacher, they build the team and success over time, that's not what a lot of these Prem or ex Prem clubs have time for. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Leicester got kmck on their short list on 09:53 - Jun 6 with 1649 views | EdwardStone | This is getting tedious. Every club that has pretensions to greatness will want K McK So we will have to endure this endless speculation for all of the time he is with us At some point, the man will leave us. Until then, he will be our Manager

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 22:22 - Jun 5 by cressi | McKenna is far to deep thinking to go there whatever anyone thinks he has some credit in the bank at Ipswich if things don't start as well as hoped since their owner died in that horrible accident Leicester have been on a downward spiral. And he will be rewarded and heavily back by Towns owners. |
Downward spiral and helicopter crash, ouch.

it's very much the risk v's reward. The club needs to be in a position where it can retain him but also comply with FFP which is going to restrict us without a doubt. Good recruitment, finding gems sounds easy on paper but that's what we will need to do because i don't think we will be able to blow teams out of the water. On the defence mechanism, i get it but realism is needed without a doubt and the need to be objective. 2 seasons of investment, isn't going to take us to a mid table premier league club that's well run, you could argue we are catching up with some league 1 teams in terms of infrastructure, still plenty to do on that side and im not sure we will catch up with premier league teams unless we are in that league for a sustained period.

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 22:51 - Jun 5 by Guthrum | However, it also involves starting from scratch, with no goodwill in the bank if things go awry. There is the cautionary tale of Graham Potter's journey from success at Brighton to Chelsea to being out of a job in less than a season. McKenna doesn't yet have Potter's previous record at Swansea and on the south coast to re-start his managerial progress. |
£10m in the bank probably eases this cautionary tale.

Leicester wanted Potter after he was sacked by Chelsea, but he didn't want to rush into a job. He now may feel he should be able to attract a PL club, although I reckon he would prefer to move in the summer rather than come in as a fire-fighter. Leicester still have a high wage bill & I reckon a quick bounce back is very important to them.

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 08:04 - Jun 6 by Freddies_Ears | Strictly speaking the downward spiral started a few seconds earlier... Leicester's wagebill is only 10% - 15% below Tottenham's. They will have to sell several players, and the morale of the rest isn't going to be high. For KMac, it is a far more attractive proposition to continue to build at a club where everything is joined-up, stable and moving in the right direction. |
Sick, but I couldn't stifle a small titter.

Indeed, which as a manager with a career bias towards the coaching side must be hugely attractive to KM. There's no 2 ways about it they're a very big fish at Championship level despite the obvious financial headwinds. They'll probably sell a handful of players e.g. Maddison and raise £100m and still be left with an excellent squad. I can't see them coming in for him or him leaving right now though. If we have a good season but fall short of promotion then we're probably very exposed but right now he probably has a little bit more to prove at a higher level.

They're a Derby in waiting - unless they get their act together quickly this summer. I can't see any manager getting time to build something there. They need a firefighter

Leicester got kmck on their short list on 12:53 - Jun 6 with 1216 views | burnbudgiesburn | As boring as these threads are, it is good for Ipswich that he keeps getting touted as possibles for all these other jobs. It means we are being successful. Bobby Robson was touted for other jobs all the time. Sunderland and Manchester City if I recall. He may have even spoken to a few before deciding against. Managers come and go and the club goes on. I'd presume the next Town manager will be a similar type. Young technical coach on the way up.

Are lots of people saying they're the bestest or he should go? I think he should stay but it would silly to pretend there will be no attractive points for Leicester's new manager. One of them will be the world-class facilities at their disposal, another a squad that, as the toff says, once the summer hacking is over will remain in the top two or three for quality. It's the Leicester shortlist gossip that has prompted this chat and his name's being mentioned a lot up there, in a purely speculative sense. A bit like us with Whittaker in January, hopefully it's fan-generated.

SBR was quite well known for fluttering his eyelashes at other Division 1 clubs & then being rewarded with a juicy pay rise at Ipswich. In fairness, he did stay at Town & oversee the most successful extended period in the club's history & only left when England came calling, turning down a huge contract on better money offered by Town.
