Weird things that irritate 09:16 - Jul 7 with 3421 viewsCheltenham_Blue

BBC Breakfast running a story about the end of the Ford Fiesta this morning and the reporter keeps saying, "This, is the M. K. One Fiesta".

The voice in my head automatically shouts - "ITS PRONOUNCED MARK!!! YOU SH^TNUGGET"

Too much coffee maybe.

I'd imagine that's both weird and irritating.

I want my 12 year old Fiesta Mk6 to last for another 10 years.
I'm quite sure it will unless some nutter crashes into me.
The Govt. will probably ban older petrol & diesel cars in 10 years time anyway.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Ban on new patrol and diesel is 'just' seven years off.

I'm trying to get my twelve year old Skoda Octavia (4x4, I'm so outdoorsy...) to one hundred and fifty thousand miles on the clock. And it probably will do unless someone crashes their twelve year old Fiesta into it...

My sister had an XR2 Fiesta back in the day. It was too spicy for her and she crashed it lol

A weird thing that irritates me is that great lioness Jill Scott doesn't seem to know where she was born. She always says Engeeeeerland when I'm sure she was born in England. Yep that really annoys me.

The price of petrol/deisel, when some tw*t bleats on about how much it will now cost to fill up an average family car. Utter meaningless nonsense.

Do pubs talk about the increase in beer prices as "it will now cost the average man over £30 to get drunk".

A simple figure showing how much the price has increased in monetary terms, or as a percentage. Show the price, as do all petrol stations.

Most people don’t drink to get drunk but I’d imagine most people fill up their car at the pumps. Hope that helps.

err, it assumes people run their car on almost empty before filling up which I suspect very few do, so it is meaningless

and with beer prices. the comparison would be that you assume every man who visits a pub does so to get totally drunk

try to keep up

Trying to keep up with you will be a thankless task. You go around in so many circles that it makes the entire experience totally pointless.

On the contrary, geometrically a circle has an infinite number of points...from which to select the arc of your narrative...

I've got a newish ST3 and I plan on keeping it until the end of time.

...which given the way I drive might not be long into the future.

You must have such a dull time of it. It's when the fuel light has been on for eighty miles, the needle is sitting on 'E' and your digital display is no longer telling you how many miles you have left that life gets interesting.

People who write loose rather than when they mean lose..it can derail a really good piece on the forum...obvio the letter H being pronounced H..aitch is another ...AnFony rather than Anthony .... oh and on youtube that watchmojo thing with the cocky presenters who think they know it all pronouncing actors, singers, films, etc names wrongly....famous ones too....and the production compnay wnkers not picking up on it is a double irritation.

Fate is fickle but I think you're safe as I've no plans to visit Suffolk yet.
My 13 year-old Fiesta though.......

I only drive in the 20mph zones around Bristol avoiding the ULEZ, which I'm not liable for paying even if I drove into it.

After 12 years my Fiesta has only done 17,000 miles.
I have an OAP bus pass which I use most of the time for visiting the Waterfront bars, Museums and Galleries. Parking is a PITA in Bristol Center.

Once a year I do the Cheddar run which is M5 to Weston-super-mare and visit the sea front for a beer. Then off to Cheddar for another beer and then monster it up the gorge.
After that, I drive the back roads over the Mendips and down Chew Valley and onto Dundry Hill.
It's not Italian mountain roads aka Top Gear but it's fun.

Have you got a fave route where you can monster the car with no fear of the Police spotting you?

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?
