It would be an unbelievable effort from us to even have a sniff of the top 6.
Not beyond the realms though is it.
I watched a fair of Championship football last season. In parts it was good, but a lot of the games I saw were not that far removed from L1 in many regards. Plenty of mistakes, some questionable football.
We turned Rotherham over and looked decent against Burnley.
I don't expect us to romp the division but I wouldn't be surprised if we are in and around 4th to 10th throughout the the season.
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...
We can certainly do that by maintaining the momentum and confidence from last season. Like we did back with Burley’s team.
But I hope predictions like that don’t raise expectations too far. It’s a much tougher league and we’ll have to be overall better than last season to compete at the top. We still don’t know how good we are at defending but we’ll have to do a lot more than last season while still being clinically effective going forward.
As I said, we can do it. But more realistically I’m looking to see how we land in the division and how we adapt to it. That’s exciting enough for me for the first few months anyway.

It would be an incredible achievement to finish above any of the relegated Prem teams, given their squads and budgets. If we don't do that, then 5th would require us to finish 2nd out of the other 21 teams. I think that's a really big ask. Certainly not beyond the realms, as you say, but it's a big ask when you consider the budgets of the parachute teams, and the fact that we're pretty sure that we've been outbid on our actual targets by the likes of Coventry.
Mind you, Luton. So....

Reading between the lines, on balance, perhaps jumping to conclusions a bit, I think they rather like our Kieran.
I was in Malta with England the other month, and bumped into Henry Winter in a bar.
Lovely bloke. You can tell he just loves football and would talk to anyone on the subject. Said us and ‘Boro had two of the best young managers in football due to their attention to detail. Nothing is left to chance. Everything is meticulously planned. They’ll both be managing at the highest level in years to come.
We are so lucky to have him. It won’t be easy to find a replacement when he does eventually leave us.

I'd put Leeds miles ahead of Leicester for the automatic places.
People may like to admit it, but Farke is a very good manager at this level, and Leicester have lost a lot of good players.
Although let's not forget that Farke was on the brink of getting the sack back in 2018 after a very average start to life at Norwich. I remember him being under a load of pressure after the 1-1 draw with us at Portman Road, he couldn't even beat a Paul Hurst team back then. He may go in there and have an instant impact at Leeds but that's not how he achieved success at Norwich and he won't get the luxury of time at Leeds.

But Leeds as a club is a mess. Of the three relegated teams, I suspect they’ll struggle the most.
The Championship will be its usual mixture of good and bad. It’s nothing special though. It never was. We are organised as a club and have a lot stronger team than four years ago. Just how strong, time will tell but I can see us doing as well as Sunderland did last season.
Wishful thinking? Possibly, but there’s nothing much to fear in the Championship.

Undoubtedly Farke is a good manager but it took him a season to get it right and Norwich and the Leeds squad is both unbalanced and has mostly been recruited for playing Bielsa football.
They'll be up there but I'd say playoffs are more likely as it might take a while for things to click there.
