I know he couldn't win a header, but i do wonder if we had been treated to some amazing attacking talent up to that summer when we lost miller, bent and kuqi that we ended up putting to much pressure on him?

Most exciting signing to disappoint on 19:07 - Jul 29 by BlueBadger | Watched him played at the tip of a midfield diamond in a league cup game. First half he was totally unplayable. Second half, he completely vanished and we lost 2-1. At home. To Northampton. His(and Paul Jewell's) ITFC career summed up in 90 minutes. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/14368530.stm |
I love how Sunday league Jewell’s presser is: I'm hugely disappointed that players we've given the opportunity to tonight to stake a claim for a first-team place didn't do as well as they should have done. "I feel if [Michael] Chopra had been playing tonight we'd have won the game comfortably. "We're desperately on the look-out for a centre-back, but like with every player we go for, it seems six or seven other clubs are also interested."
Most exciting signing to disappoint on 20:17 - Jul 29 with 1710 views | Pique | James Norwood. I thought at the time he was going to be our Rickie Lambert (or dare I say it, Grant Holt) and propel us up the leagues. And he really wasn't.

Most exciting signing to disappoint on 22:43 - Jul 29 with 1528 views | CarpyBlue | For some reason I thought Louie Barry was going to be class when he signed for us. Not saying he's a bad player, he was just too raw at the time and would have been better off in League Two/National League than with us.

It’s a good point, but when alls said and done Championship level was way beyond Parkin. It was obvious 20 mins into his first game at PR. Not his fault - it’s how it is sometimes. For me though it’s Stuart Slater. Looked the knees of the bee as a young player at West Ham. Stank the place out with us. Weak and ineffective. One of the most disappointing for me was David Norris. At £2m we at last had a goalscoring midfielder. No we didn’t. He just wasn’t very good.

So many of us at the time wanted Slater to be the next Clive Woods, such a disappointment!

Most exciting signing to disappoint on 19:14 - Jul 29 by MattinLondon | Not the most exciting but I thought that Amir Karić would be a great signing. Think it was in the Euros that he was bombing up and down the pitch and putting in great crosses. Such a disappointment. |
Karic is a great shout, but there were a few duff's in that summer, John Scales being the other significant one to jump out from that period. Since then though, good God, where do you start? Tommy Oar would be one, genuinely thought that would be a huge signing for us at the time.

We never played to his strengths. He was never a target man but more of a fox-in-the-box player. Always wondered why we didn’t adapt to his style as it was obvious he wasn’t good in the air.

I was never that excited about Slater. He'd been shocking for Celtic previously.

I maybe should have clarified that the injury was the disappointment as he looked a class above what we had for the few games he played.

Well, he didn’t really play. He just waddled about the pitch for a bit dreaming of his next quarter pounder with cheese and large fries. Same with ‘the Duke’ Ellington.
