Watched him played at the tip of a midfield diamond in a league cup game. First half he was totally unplayable. Second half, he completely vanished and we lost 2-1.

It’s a good point, but when alls said and done Championship level was way beyond Parkin. It was obvious 20 mins into his first game at PR. Not his fault - it’s how it is sometimes.
For me though it’s Stuart Slater. Looked the knees of the bee as a young player at West Ham. Stank the place out with us. Weak and ineffective.
One of the most disappointing for me was David Norris. At £2m we at last had a goalscoring midfielder. No we didn’t. He just wasn’t very good. |  | | |

Not the most exciting but I thought that Amir Karić would be a great signing. Think it was in the Euros that he was bombing up and down the pitch and putting in great crosses.

Karic is a great shout, but there were a few duff's in that summer, John Scales being the other significant one to jump out from that period.
