Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards 12:26 - Oct 4 with 6058 views | GrumpyGit | Oxford fan here…. Just an update on Gregg and Kyle. Gregg scored his 4th in 3 games last night, my god we love him. He is just wonderful, his enthusiasm, athletic prowess, never say die attitude, why on earth was he released? Not to mention he comes over as a really nice guy in interviews. Kyle has a hamstring problem that’s unfortunately going to keep him out for six weeks. He’s constantly ripped defences a new one. Superb crosser of the ball and can him them too. We want him as a permanent signing. Boring, boring Oxford have scored 3 in the last 4 games. Karl ‘Gobbo’ Robinson has thankfully gone and Liam Manning has brought professionalism back. Sitting second and a point behind Pompey with a game in hand. I think League One was slightly weakened by you Plymouth and Wednesday going up and it’s a long way to go, but hopefully we’ll be up there at the end of the season with help from the Tractor boys. Great start for you chaps.
Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:33 - Oct 4 with 5230 views | Guthrum | We released Leigh because, good as he is, Davis is even better and Gregg deserved (from the way he conducted himself at Town last season) a chance to shine in his own right somewhere else. You are the beneficiaries. Not much more to it than that.

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:34 - Oct 4 with 5210 views | unstableblue | Thanks for post, appreciate this update. And hope you get promoted. Its quite simple, as you've seen Gregg is a great player, and he's good enough to want a starting place, BUT Leif Davis is probably one of the best players in the Championship and certainly at out club. Gregg was never going to be the starter, and hence he pushed to move on. Other players are happy to be part of the squad, and await their chance. Kyle is a good player and a fan favourite at Town, but he needed a run of games, so pleased he's had it there. Again he's behind a superb player in Broadhead.. and also Harness. And Town needed a next level player which has been provided in the loanee Hutchison (Chelsea). I'm not sure Kyle will come back next season and fight for a place again, given the quality of our squad. BUt I hope he does... and that starts by getting fit and having a true run in your season. PS - McKenna will leave us in say 3 seasons time... I do think Manning will be right up there on our contingency list, and obviously has the Town connection.

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:35 - Oct 4 with 5188 views | _clive_baker_ | Really good to hear re. Leigh, he was quality here when called upon. I think a few eyebrows were raised when we signed him on a free from Morecambe, but that doesn't tell the story. A lot of talent, hard working, good technically and as you say, really did seem like a good lad and big character in the squad which is half the battle. Edwards was a good 'wildcard' for us, often used later in games against tiring defences, stretching the pitch and particularly effective when running 1-on-1 against his man. He played a big part in unlocking a few stubborn parked buses last season (Cambridge and Port Vale come to mind) and was another one who seemed to have an infectious personality and always a smile on his face. I think they were only really moved on as we took a step up a division and there's a finite budget and squad numbers to work within, and we looked to add in those areas. Omari Hutchinson has come in on loan from Chelsea and is Edwards and some. Brandon Williams has come in from Man United and the same is true of him. Plus I presume Leigh & Edwards wanted more game time, hopefully Kyle can get it when fit. Glad Oxford are doing well, with those lads there and Manning you're a club whose results I have my eye on. Hopefully you keep it up and knock Pompey off their perch.
Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:37 - Oct 4 with 5157 views | Steve_M | I think they're both players Town fans will look back on fondly despite their limited contributions on the pitch - both left because they wanted to play more regularly than they were going to here. And that's admirable in itself. Leigh would always be behind Leif Davis who was outstanding last season and looks like he's not going to find the Championship much harder. Edwards will have days when he looks totally unplayable and others where he can't quite get it right. That goal he curled in a few weeks back is what he threatened to do on his debut at Burton - he only hit the bar then. Enjoy the season.

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:42 - Oct 4 with 5082 views | TractorCam | Ultimately Greg wanted to leave for first team football, and who are we to stand in his way after his contributions and professionalism from last season. He was well loved here which says something for a back up left back. Shame about Edwards, he did have some injury problems but as you've seen is very capable with the ball at his feet when he's at his best. I would like to see you promoted, but also us as I had grown sick of going to your ground, bad memories for us!

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:43 - Oct 4 with 5060 views | LankHenners | Two very popular players among the squad and fanbase last season despite limited game time and seems like you've discovered why. We had the opportunity to bring Brandon Williams in which freed up Leigh to leave and for his sake he wanted more minutes so the move worked for everyone. Good to see Edwards starting to play like how he's threatened to his whole career. Had some useful cameos last season for us but never found the end product consistently like our other attackers. Pleasing to see Liam Manning doing well as well - felt he was dealt a bad hand at MK last season, all his decent players left and they never recovered from a poor start. Seems to have a good thing going over there.

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 12:45 - Oct 4 with 5033 views | itfcjoe | Great to see Greg doing well - he was let go because he isn't at the level required for where we are now with Leif Davis and Brandon Williams competing for that role.....but that is no slight on him and I'm delighted he is able to show he is a top L1 left back because he looked as though he could be but was behind Leif Davis in pecking order and he was so, so good. Really pleased to see Manning doing so well too after his second season at MK - and all seems to be moving in right direction for Oxford as a club with the stadium etc - best of luck for the next few months and hopefully Greg and Kyle can keep up their starts, I've no doubt they can do

"Surprised you’ve been able to detect them on your pitch tbh, or is low-hanging fog only an occasional thing round your manor? " You'd hear Edward's laugh, long before you saw him.

We loved him here, plenty on twitter told Ox U fans you'd be getting one of the best in the league. Top bloke and delighted he's doing well. Shame RE Edwards ad he's desperate to play but he's class at that level. I think all at ITFC want to see you do well this year

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 13:36 - Oct 4 with 4499 views | Swansea_Blue | All been said above, but just to add that we were disappointed to see Gregg go (and a good few thought we should keep Edwards). With Gregg I don’t think I’ve known someone who played so little for us be so popular. He always did well whenever he got an opportunity. Both seem really nice guys too (we don’t sign @rseholes these days).

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 15:11 - Oct 4 with 3849 views | Nutkins_Return | Not often you get to sign two players who are pretty universally like by the fans of the club you take them from. You will find very few bad words about either. We were all sad to see both of them go. Good move for you and them. Kyle is such a talent. He's a bit of a maverick I guess which will make him a fan favourite. If anything let him down for us it was final ball so great to see he was finding it with games. I'd still have him back to be honest but he deserves a d should be playing week in week out and getting fans off seat. Following your results for those boys and Manning. We may come calling for Manning in the future :)

I use thread mode and still say "above". Because a) I'm very clever and b) I assume most of you other divs are using table mode.

Gregg Leigh & Kyle Edwards on 16:17 - Oct 4 with 3488 views | DeliasMashedPotato | As others have said, we had maybe the 2 best left backs in the league last year and only one can play. Greg was just unlucky that Leif was playing so well. Many of us were gutted to see Greg go, but it shows his passion to play football that he has probably taken a pay cut to drop a league than bench warm. I imagine he was more than welcome to stay and Kieran Mckenna always spoke highly of him. Edwards was a great impact player for us last year and many thought he would potentially get better in the championship with more space etc. Those 2 are a great bit of business for you and I think you will do well this year.
