So, they booted out Moore who got them promoted. They wheel in a bloke who doesn’t speak the language, sign a load of cheap Carlos Kickaball players and boot the manager out before the leaves have fallen. Obviously he had to go but the basic problem is the owner. Sounds familiar.

It’ll be interesting who they get in next.

This sounds like a job for Paul Hurst...

Under-21s boss Neil Thompson is taking charge for Saturday. that's the Tommo who played left back for us when we got promoted.

That Southend goal Heathy 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Poll: With Evans taking 65% in Huddersfield, is the Banter Era over?

You are not allowed to mention Thompson without adding the former nappy salesman reference. That's the law.

Billy the Fish as I seem to remember him being known as. Apart from the obvious Viz reference, I never knew why it applied to Thompson.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Thought he did a decent job previously, hence why nufc came calling? Or was there a bit going on behind the scenes with chansiri

Took the job In Janaury but didn't join for two months as he was watching the England cricket team in the Carribean- then held negotiations on his move to Newcastle with them in the hotel he and Sheffield Wednesday were staying at for their pre-season tour a few months later before an approach was made.

Apparently they are heavily linked with Lee Bullen, whilst a club legend as a player is currently struggling with Ayr United in the Scottish Championship. I expect he meets the owners main criteria of being cheap though.

They could appoint The greatest manager around atm ( but Kieran wouldn’t go btw), and they’d still be relegated this season. Their squad is ageing and poor. And they “ look” like a league one outfit to me.I think they’re League One bound whoever they appoint.

Could be helpful tho

Can't see them winning many games, but sure they'll draw some, and having already played them once already, if they pick up some draws against the top sides, it'll help us

Makes you wonder why anybody with an semblance of a career left would actually go there and work with the owner. It's got to be a very tough sale now.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Thompson's Southend Stunner 4th Apr 2020 09:00
Southend United were meant to be the visitors to Portman Road on Saturday, which coincidentally is the 28th anniversary of the Blues’ 2-1 victory over the Shrimpers at Roots Hall in which Neil Thompson scored a brilliant and hugely important last-gasp winner as Town continued their pursuit of the Second Division title. TWTD spoke to the former left-back to hear how he remembers that day, that season and his time at Portman Road. 17

Oh yes the APOEL, Cardiff and Blackpool fans would have something to say about him.

Absolutely 👍 and the same could he said of that log up the road. They’re struggling without any gif strikers but they still have something about them in games. I’m hoping they draw some their games against potential promotion rivals over the next half dozen games. It’ll knock them further down the league and help us. Which of course they’ll want to do!

Wednesday do need a manager who can wring just enough resources out of a feckless owner to avoid relegation, and who had the brass neck to not care much about what insults an ungrateful bunch of supporters throw at him...

And who turned 60 earlier this week. Not sure I'd want managing Wednesday at the moment as a birthday present.

He can't be 60. One of my all time favourites of all time.
