Hamas have military units and arms within residential areas, including schools and hospitals, so civilians are used as human shields.
Hopefully when the ground invasion happens, the Israelis can hit more specific targets, and wipe out Hamas. |

It's very depressing to see many Western countries vocally supporting Israel rather than condemning their response. Absolutely offer support in the aftermath of what happened, support a proportionate response to that, but don't support obvious war crimes and what looks to be an attempt to wipe out a large proportion of the Palestinian population in Gaza. Time for the international community to pressure for an immediate ceasefire. And when I say international community, I really mean much of the US-led Western world that is far too supportive of Israeli actions and indeed the underlying unjust oppression of the Palestinians.
The threatening and bombing of civilians is a war crime and we need to be talking about it in those terms. Not sanitising it or semi-justifying it with talk about the Israeli response and right to defend itself.
In exactly the same way that support for the Palestinians and their right to resist their oppression doesn’t mean we excuse Hamas murdering innocent men, women and children as fighting for their freedom.
By supporting or even being mild in our condemnation of war crimes and the breaking of international law, we’re helping ensuring that the war is run on the terms of Hamas and the extremist Israeli leadership. And that’s zero help to millions of Israeli and Palestinian civilians caught in the middle between these two. |  |
