Would be a great move. | |

Most secure place to lock a bike on 14:22 - Nov 10 with 2895 views | SitfcB | Bike racks on the corner of Sir Alf Ramsey Way/Alderman Road or the fence that runs along PR itself? Or bike racks in the car park near the Beattie statue I think?

that's a great idea - back in the day when I lived in San Francisco the SF Giants baseball stadium had a free bike parking area that they oversaw to guarantee no thieving, thus encouraging more people to ride rather than drive to the game

Most secure place to lock a bike on 16:03 - Nov 10 with 2591 views | Meadowlark | I cycle to lots of away matches (not all the way, I just arrive at the ground on my bike) and there are very few with secure bike parking facilities. Even "green" Forest Green was a bit of a disappointment after cycling all the way up that bloody hill. My general tip now is to lock it somewhere where there is a lot of footfall, but it's not an obstruction. I used to think that locking it in a dark corner was the best idea, but that is an ideal place for thieves. At Portman Road, I'd consider locking it to the fence next to Sir Bobby or Sir Alf.

At a recent match I was waiting by Sir Alf for my son who was delayed travelling up from London. For most of those 25 mins after kick off the area was surprisingly deserted. By 3.15. I was squinting into the distance to see if anybody at all was coming. I certainly wouldn't park my bike there. Although I would like to cycle to the game I just wouldn't trust it there. I, too, have wondered why, in these days of so much green noise, there is so little real provision. A secure monitored cycle park would be great as long as it wasn't just built to burnish green credentials, but then only took, say, 50 bikes.

Don't know if it was me or not, it's certainly an idea Ive suggested before on here, most recently at the environment fixture. Because there simply aren't any safe places imo to leave a bike in town for more than few minutes thesedays. And it seems an easy win to make.

Most secure place to lock a bike on 19:03 - Nov 10 with 2159 views | Bluebell | It seems that people worry about having their bikes nicked. Don’t they do locks for bikes nowadays? Are people worried wheels will be stolen? Back in the day it was easy to attach your bike to a railing. There must be some in Ipswich that could be used.

You've clearly never seen pictures of padlock cutting equipment. It's not only wayward individuals, but well- kitted gangs with regular outlets for their booty.
