Surely the main reason for buying a membership.... on 17:47 - Nov 21 by Skip_Intro

So people who attend home games are more loyal than those who spend thousands following us to far flung grounds on a wet cold Tuesday night? Not sure I agree with that tbh...
Maybe we should just charge away fans £60 a ticket whilst we are at it...after all it's all FFP...maybe put the price of home tickets up too to ensure that only 'true' fans come and watch us?

No, because you are rewarded for your away travel - via away points.

When it comes to Norwich(A), you wouldn’t expect people who have been to Home games to be rewarded at your expense.

Not being confrontational. I just think that’s the difference.

I get the frustration, but as others have said, it’s pretty naive not to put tickets in said person(s) name.

Sitters quite rightly pointed out, Norwich away has always been on a loyalty point basis where you had to purchase tickets under your name, same with Wembley.

The club were never going to please everybody regardless what they done, I don’t quite agree with ST holders getting extra priority after having a ticket already resevrved, but it is what it is.

I think most people would have accepted keeping it as it has been for other games. If that led to issues, then reassess for next time. I think the frustration is just changing it for this game and catching people out.

I think next best would have been any 3 games rather than home. And then finally give members a chance before season ticket holders.

That is what irks me… I have no issue with rewarding those who go to Portman Road regularly and whilst making it home & away games would benefit me, I don’t think that is fair.

But a priority system within the SB members themselves seems fair. So those with more games get the choice of seats, and then SB members with less home games than that a level down.

Essentially the club are saying (well, they aren’t but it feels like it) ST holders mates who fancy a day out deserve more than us ‘away fans’.

I think that’s pretty poor really - people will have paid £40 for priority and now don’t have any at all.

Obviously doesn’t affect me personally (in fact probably helps me as a ST and a member) but I feel like this is town moving the goalposts which will piss people off.

Yeah, exactly the same situation.

A little naughty of the club to offer up a £40 membership, presumably with a view to those who missed out on STs getting priority for this game, and then to shift the goalposts.

I'm alright Jack, so that's good - but yeah, it doesn't look great.

I understand step 1 to reward loyalty.

Step 2,why do ST holders who already got a seat get to buy another cos they're members? Won't they be giving it to someone whose not a member(in which case being a member and not having been to enough games seems really unfair and they could short circuit the rules)?

I don't think you're being confrontational - I just think that 2 issues are being conflated here...I don't disagree with your point - my post was in reaction to a post that said that away fans should have less priority and should be seen as less important than home fans because the money they spend on tickets goes to our competitors rather than ITFC...

I get there needs to be added restrictions and its mostly OK.

I just don't like the fact that a "mate" of a ST holder gets ahead of someone like myself who mustvhace been to 10+ games since the start of the 22/23 season. That's the part that doesn't make sense to me.

I think you are taking my post too literally.

You are right, it was a thing 23 years ago, and has been a thing for Norwich away games. However, for some of these matches we had ticket stubs rather than electronic records.

It has only really become a BIG thing this season as demand for home and away tickets now exceeds supply for almost every game and if you do not sign the register when attending the club think your playing truant, and you have to sit on the naughty step..
[Post edited 21 Nov 2023 18:11]

You’re right. Last season a member could buy 4 tickets per game so there was little incentive for groups of people to all become members. So for those people who went to games last season as another member’s guest it’s effectively 3 home games this season, which is still a reasonable measure of loyalty.
Thing is, the club are trying to achieve two goals here: (a) manage the demand from home fans (b) prevent Norwich fans getting tickets in the home end. I suspect (b) is why they’ve put season ticket holders ahead of members with fewer than 3 games attended. What they’ve come up with seems like an OK method of achieving both goals.

So when is this likely to sell out? How many tickets are available, and will it make it as far as the second stage - members with season tickets?

Small point. The priority system is rewarding members rather than ST holders

1. Members who are not ST holders
2. Members who are ST holders
3. Non-members who are ST holder
4. Non-members whop are not ST holders

Sorry, with demand as it is, if you cannot get to three home games in the last 30 or so, then you really do not deserve a ticket for the biggest game in years, just because you bought a membership.

I'm not a member (was last season) but have been to more than 3 homes games. If i sign up to membership now, presumably I'd be eligible?

When I first read it, I thought 3 games since start of the season, and thought "Phew!" As I've taken in Leeds, Preston and Plymouth .

Got home and re-read it, since August 2022, 3 home games since August 2022!
Personally think they should have made it a higher number and maybe added 2 away games.

Given that crowds have been comfortably close to capacity for every home game this season, I think at membership +3 the tickets probably sell out very quickly on Monday and I could still miss out. If so, so be it. I think it's great that the club has grown its support and really engaged its fan base.

I think we need that bigger stand!

Disappointed really. I held a season ticket for over thirty years until two seasons ago. I now travel away a lot so cannot afford to hold a season ticket in order to attend maybe 5 or 6 home games a season. I’ve been to 2 home and 3 away games this season though and fall 1 short of the criteria. IMO an ill thought out decision that penalises many like me. Why just insist on home game attendance? Poor show from Town management.

I think we're all loyal,
I can't get a ticket for any away games as it's on how many games you've been to in the last season or so,I've accepted that,
I'm a season ticket holder so I have my loyalty to, I have a ticket for Norwich at home I accept that,

Three games in the last THIRTY odd. Last season counts.

If you say you didn't go to any home games last season, yours will be up there with the finest of silly moans.

Because it's a home game! Those of us who travel away get points if we have membership thereby giving priority for away games
