Points over next 2 games? 13:21 - Dec 18 with 5330 viewsitfcjoe

Personally, I'd be happy with 2 or more....sounds unambitious but either means

2 - unbeaten, wouldn't really lose much ground on anything
3 - win one, lose one, turns this tough 8 game run into a 16 point haul
4 - Would be incredible
6 - out of this world, and get the PL plans started

We will get 3

We will beat Leicester at home with ease.

Leeds.. can't see us stopping them. Our weaknesses are their strong points. Defending from the flanks.

With ease? What?

Truly impaired.

I think we will enjoy a nice comfortable 3-0 victory. Just a feeling.

I'd take two. Anything more is fantastic.

It'll be interesting to see how we play Leeds. I don't think it's in McKenna's nature to deviate from his principles or change anything too drastically but he's not going to want to make it a basketball match like we had at PR.

We're very different away compared to at home. How many have we won 1-0?

Unlikely we won't concede but we won't be gung ho.

6 points, 6 goals

I note that even with this unbridled optimism (and why not!), you don't dare ask for a clean sheet too - very wise!

Agree.

Although there's a scenario, depending on Leeds' other result, where 2 is better than 3.

I would be surprised if we didn’t get at least a point at Leeds. Leicester at home feels like a tougher game. Could fall the wrong side of a similar result like we did against Leeds earlier in the season. Love to beat Leeds though that’s the most important game out of the two games IMO.

It's a four way go for two places, Leicester, Leeds, Southampton and us. Leeds I feel are the Team most likely to falter as they are a bit hit and miss. If Coventry can get a point no reason we can't get at least the same or better. I think we need Morsy more for Leicester than against Leeds and personally although we have Taylor I'm not sure he's either the right type or good enough to step into Morsy's shoes if he were suspended or Heaven forbid had several matches out injured. I agree with those that say the defence needs strengthening and someone who's abt better than Ladapo to back up Hirst. Whether we go large in January may hinge on what we achieve between now and Christmas/New year. In many ways I feel sympathy with Freddie as he has to be ranked as one of the reasons we were promoted. But then if we wish to move forward there's no room for sentiment. Freddie would be an ideal buy for a team pushing for promotion from Division One.

I would take beating Leeds and losing to Leicester.

Only problem with 2 points is Southampton could gain 4 on us but it would still be a great return.

The next couple of months look very promising for Saints, March, April and final game of the season looks much tougher. They’ll be wanting to make up ground by then.

Leeds is the one can't afford to lose any sort of points haul there will bring super confidence against Leicester, Leicester game will be a few goals, draw Leeds beat Leicester,

I'd take 2 pts.

I'm a bit worried about our slightly porous defence. Seems churlish to say that when we sit comfortably 2nd, but we just seem to give away too many goals and against Leeds and Leicester i think we could pay for it.

Would mean at least 8 points clear of Leeds, at least 6 points clear of Southampton.

At the end of the last international break, I was predicting a loss at Leeds and win v Leicester. But Leeds are really feeling the pressure. I now fancy us to get something at Leeds, probably a draw. And Leicester, they just aren't as good as us. If they come at us, we will score more than they will. 4 points.

Two points would be adequate, continuing the status quo.

With three points would depend which way around. Beating Leeds much preferable to them gaining three points on us, even if we close up on Leicester (assuming they win tonight).

Four or more would be excellent.

But I do think we are quite capable of winning both.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I’ve been feeling for a while we have it in us to beat Leicester at home. Leeds I’d take a point. Pity we’re not playing Leeds at home now we have got acclimatised to the division… think we would have beaten them at home now.

Just as long as we beat Leeds I don't really care that much about Leicester (I will probably change my tune come Boxing Day).

If that happens then worst case scenario is that Saints are seven points behind us (they have two straight forward games on paper) and Leeds are 10 points - going into the last game of the calendar year against QPR.

We then have two easier games (QPR and Stoke), whilst Saints play Plymouth (at St Marys so should win easily) and then away to Norwich (their hardest game of the festive season).

So - we then hope that Norwich draw against Saints and we go into FA Cup Third Round 9 points ahead of Saints and at least 10 points ahead of Leeds.

That makes a draw or win against Leicester just a free hit really.

Lose to Leeds and it starts to get uncomfortable and we then need to hope that West Brom beat Leeds on the 29th.

Let’s take Leeds first. 3 points on Saturday has to be the focus.

One game at a time.

I remember a lad and I got hammered on here for taking on the narrative that a draw against Middlesbrough would be a good result. Watford - again, draw would be a good result! Now 2 more draws.

If we are serious about finishing top 2 - draws won't take us there,

We aren't going to win every game, mate. A draw away against Leeds would be a good result.

Feels like a lot of people have already written us off at Elland Road. I don't get that... we are the team playing better football at the moment and have only lost one game on the road. They outplayed us for 15 minutes earlier in the season which cost us but they don't even have that set of players in attack now. I think McKenna will have them doing a lot of defensive work this week - their attackers are good but not unstoppable!

I think it will be a very closely contested game.
