They really don't like us, think Morsy should have been red carded but fair play they did predict an injury time winner.

Foxes Talk liked us until we, and Leeds, became a legitimate threat. I think they don't hate Ipswich but are just feeling the pressure from having it in the bag and then falling away.

One thing about luck, is we have had a bit of good fortune on our side in a couple of recent games, but that's the rub of it really. Like all teams, we've had our fair share of s*ite luck to balance it out.

I have a sneaky suspicion most Leicester fans would be happy if they and Ipswich got promoted rather than they and Leeds.

We lost to Cardiff to ridiculous late goals. We have fewer penalties by far than Leicester or leeds. No hint of luck there frankly, just the swings and chance of football.

I particularly enjoyed this rare pearl of wisdom..."Morsy really is a fat wa***r isnt he. Waddles around the pitch kicking people off the ball "

Lovely stuff.

Hello chaps,

Leicester fan here in (relative) peace.

I'm sure most will gather that any football forum, or the internet in general, is not the go to place for reasoned debate and intelligent discourse (yet, here I am).

I would like to think that the majority of Leicester fans are objectively impressed and in admiration of what Ipswich have achieved thus far this season. However, the difficulty of course is the 'objective' part of that sentence. When we were X points clear it was slightly easier to be objective than now that we're 2 points behind. Objectivity goes out of the window and subjective bias comes into play.

I've always been a pessimistic football fan, so even when we were 17 points clear (or whatever it was) I was far from confident given the season the top 4 have been having, it was only ever likely to take a fairly small slip up to get dragged back in. Whoever comes 3rd and 4th is going to be incredibly dejected, particularly 3rd. Some of your fans may argue that you won't, as you have far exceeded expectation anyway, but let's face it - even if you're an amateur long distance runner who leads the London Marathon until the final few hundred yards - you're going to be majorly disappointed regardless of pre-race expectation.

I have personally thought that 100 points is the magic number for the past few weeks and stand by that; which is quite scary to think top 90s may not be enough. Though your chaps certainly have experience from last season! That's 5 wins out of 7 for us, 4 wins and a draw out of 6 for you (possibly 5 wins/4 wins and two draws depending on GD) and 5 wins from 6 for Leeds. One would think it's very unlikely that all three of those scenarios happen, but who knows this season.

Given the seemingly impending points deduction and absolute mess that is modern flight top flight football, I'm not overly enthused about promotion - but we seem to have created a football world whereby it's Premier League or bust once you've spent a few years in the top flight so I don't think we can afford not to. The thought of becoming the next Stoke, or even Pompey isn't overly enthralling either.

My ideal would remain a Leicester/Ipswich top 2 and anybody but Leeds or Cov in the play offs, but my prediction would probably be Leeds/Ipswich/Leicester/Saints/West Brom/Norwich with us losing to Saints in the final (arghhh!)

They make out that it was inevitable that we score a last minute winner (and it was, because the crowd gets the team across the line). But statistically, Southampton should have been just as likely. Here are all the goals scored after the 85th minute. Not all of them changed the result.

Sheff Wed 1-2 Southampton (Adams 87)
Southampton 4-4 Norwich (Armstrong 90+7)
Plymouth 1-2 Southampton (Adams 90+4)
Hull 1-2 Southampton (Fraser 90+5)
PNE 2-2 Southampton (OG 90+6)
Southampton 3-1 Birmingham (Armstrong 86)
Millwall 0-1 Southampton (Fraser 90+3)
Southampton 4-0 (Mara 90+7, Alcaraz 90+9)
Southampton 5-0 Swansea (Fraser 87, Adams 90+3)
Southampton 4-0 Sheff Wed (Mara 85)
Southampton 5-3 Huddersfield (Edozie 90)
Birmingham 3-4 Southampton (Aribo 90+6)

SOUTHAMPTON POINTS WON AFTER 85TH MIN: 12

Huddersfield 1-1 Ipswich (Williams 87)
Ipswich 3-2 Plymouth (Harness 86)
Birmingham 2-2 Ipswich (Harness 89)
Rotherham 2-2 Ipswich (Taylor 87, cancelled out)
Ipswich 1-1 Leicester (OG 90+3)
Leicester 1-1 Ipswich (Sarmiento 89)
PNE 3-2 Ipswich (Moore 87)
Ipswich 2-2 WBA (Hutchinson 90+3)
Millwall 0-4 Ipswich (Al-Hamadi 90+3)
Ipswich 4-3 Rotherham (Hutchinson 90+5)
Ipswich 3-1 Birmingham (Hutchinson 90+2)
Ipswich 3-2 Bristol City (Davis 89)
Ipswich 6-0 Sheff Wed (Al-Hamadi 90)
Ipswich 3-2 Southampton (Sarmiento 90+7)

IPSWICH POINTS WON AFTER 85TH MIN: 13

The difference is that most of Southampton's came before Christmas, and most of our afterwards. Fans have short memories.

Just for the sake of completeness, here are the other two:

Leicester 2-1 Coventry (Dewsbury-Hall 87)
Leicester 2-1 Cardiff (Casadei 90+2)
Norwich 0-2 Leicester (McAteer 87)
Blackburn 1-4 Leicester (Dewsbury-Hall 88)
Leicester 3-0 PNE (Dewsbury-Hall 90)
Swansea 1-3 Leicester (Iheanacho 87)
Leicester 2-0 Watford (Vardy 90+5)
WBA 1-2 Leicester (Winks 90+4)
Stoke 0-5 Leicester (Vardy 90+8)
Leicester 1-2 Middlesbrough (Vardy 85)
Leicester 3-1 Norwich (Vardy 90+3)

LEICESTER POINTS WON AFTER 85TH MIN: 6

Leeds 2-2 Cardiff (Summerville 90+5)
Leeds 3-0 Watford (Anthony 89)
Norwich 2-3 Leeds (Summerville 85)

Leeds 3-1 Leicester (Bamford 90+4)
Watford 2-2 Leeds (Joseph 85)
Leeds 3-1 (Summerville 88, James 90+7)

LEEDS POINTS WON AFTER 85TH MIN: 8

We were lucky yesterday if we're all being honest. Managed to hang in the game, but we were 2nd best for long periods.

I wouldn’t call all it luck. They were better than us for long periods but couldn’t take advantage of it. That’s not luck. That’s the reason why they’ve not sustained any sort of challenge on the top two, despite Premier League (£190m player valuation) finances. Hardly any luck on our part that their player got red carded for bringing down Davis. He panicked. Tough luck, see yaaa.

Yes, we managed to hang in the game. A skill in itself and the subs changed the course of the game. Our second goal was excellent and Sarmiento’s extraordinary finish was not lucky in any way.

I’m happy for the media narrative to focus on good fortune. That way they’ll miss the point. We’ve won all those games because we are actually a good Championship team.

£211M in Leicester's case, if Transfermkt is in any way accurate. £206M for Leeds and £190M for S'ton. £50M for us (that's generous, presumably based on our growth this season). it's all pretty notional in terms of specific vales, but no doubting those three have way more resources at their disposal than any other team in the league.

So Transfermkt thinks our whole squad apart from Leif is worth £5? ;-)

Weird bunch, aren't they. Of course we struggle at times against the parachute teams - we're a side put together in L1 and have a fraction of the money they've got. But what we do well is make the most of what we have and never give up - and they hate that for some reason. They have no idea how entitled they come across.

As for all this deflected goals bollox, lol. Yeah, 3 really lucky deflected strikes yesterday

As the saying goes, stupidity hath no equal like a salty football fan scorned.

I do think that's it - we have team spirit and togetherness in abundance and they're a couple of things that parachute payments can't buy.

If their team doesn't have either at this stage of the season it ain't coming, which annoys them no end!

THIS IS DEMOC-RRRRRRR-ACY MANIFEST!

....any team that gets caught out cheating FFP/PSR rules immediately seems to think there is a conspiracy against them and feel the need to kick out at "football" in general.

Leeds previously, Forest, particularly Everton and now Leicester have all fallen down the conspiracy rabbit hole after they have been hit by any sort of sanction.

The general rule they apply appears to be - "We've overspent, we've got caught, so now the FA/EFL are personally instructing refs to give penalties against us, play extra injury time to benefit our rivals and allow the opposition to score deflected goals".

See, it makes sense.

Obvious, innit.

To be fair last season, some of us were calling Plymouth lucky G!ts when they kept getting late winners.

However, their level of salty is way bigger. These teams are getting the hump that we haven't just let them go up. Leicester only have themselves to blame really!

I think post EFL and PL reports some have adopted the Everton fan approach of being hard done by every man and his dog, rather than looking inwardly at the club and those in charge. Nothing more and nothing less than that, essentially.

We have been on the end of a few dodgy decisions in key games (wrongly offside goal v Leeds at 1-0 to go 2 up and the Dewsbury Hall penalty at Portman Road, for example) but it's hardly the official's fault that we missed various chances v Leeds or lost to Bristol City/QPR/Boro etc.

I've read opposition fan forums after we've played teams off the pitch this season and still you'll find the odd poster lamenting refereeing decisions or saying that they were unlucky not to come away with anything etc. It's just part and parcel of football fandom, I guess.

I presume the Burgess challenge in the first half. He got a toe to the ball but Leicester claimed Dewsbury-Hall was pulled back.

On the last point, I suspect everyone outside our budgie friends wants us to be promoted - as long as it is not at their expense... I don't think any supporter outside of the clubs impacted directly want a scenario where the three promoted clubs come back down, and the three relegated go straight back up.

Plus, I've already had a Leeds fan tell me today they hope we come up with them as that's one less relegation space for them to worry about next season...

It was this one, second half of the game -

I'd like to think I can distance myself enough to not be too biased, but I would say it's a stonewall penalty. If it's given and converted then we likely go on to win comfortably. As I say, however, whether or not we finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th will not depend on any one decision. We could have lost that game 3-0 and still should have more than enough points if we hadn't inexplicably lost to QPR, Boro, and Bristol City in recent games, or thrown away points in the last minute against Sheff Wed, Leeds, Cov etc.

Every team can pinpoint various decisions that they feel aggrieved about. Ultimately, where we finish after 46 games is where we'll deserve to finish, same for every team in the division.

Anyway, good luck (to an extent!) for the remainder of the season and should you be victorious come early or late May then I hope you put up more of a fight than last seasons' victorious teams. Football needs success stories like this and ours in recent years and not a monopoly.

2 wins (Southampton), 2 draws (Leicester) and 2 defeats (Leeds) is a fairly reasonable return.

Norwich and Watford are still parachute clubs as well.

Got one of Fatawu’s challenge on Chaplin?

Seriously, I believe the angle shortens it and the ball was far closer to Hladky then it looks there. Saying that, would I be calling for a penalty if it was at the other end? Definitely.

I think every team has results they can point to and say ‘If only’ - for us it’s Rotherham away, Cardiff away plus QPR at home and Stoke away when a sickness bug was running through the squad.

My only concern with us going up, when it comes to the authorities, is similar to Leicester winning the Premier League - which I wanted to happen at the time. That is they’ll use it to try and pretend football is still competitive rather than us being outliers.
