Get relegated abysmally with no Plan B and then get the biggest job in German football. Football logic at its best

Ashton should point to this and say to McKenna that even relegation doesn’t appear to make a difference to your prospects

Someone accused him of using this season as a future audition for the Man City job - playing a style that would appeal to their hierarchy as opposed to one that might keep Burnley up.

Winning games tends to be the best way to impress future employers, rather than playing out from the back poorly each game

Kompany must have the best agent in the world on 22:45 - May 22 with 980 views | TheBoyBlue | A good (if slightly astonishing) example of why McKenna doesn't need to rush into taking a 'bigger' job this summer. Burnley have been dreadful for much of this season, yet it is clear that Kompany is held in high regard. Unless we finish the season failing to get to double-figures and getting tonked 8-0 every week, Kieran's stock will still be high next summer when the Chelsea job will be available again, as likely will be the Man Utd one. And who knows, even bigger...

Maybe his coaching is so high level that it needs better players to make it work. What we found out is that he couldn't make it work with Burnley in the Prem and he wasn't adaptable to find a way to win.

What a sorry indictment of our pyramid system though. Parachute Burnley return to the promised land at the first time of asking, proceed to spend £95M in transfer fees, are relegated with a whimper, 24 points, -37 GD, and a club of Bayern's stature are suitably impressed with Kompany's performance to make him their standout candidate. Without wishing to detail the thread, I'm convinced our man only leaves for you know who if he believes the challenge of first-season survival is now too great to risk going through. Conversely, seeing another young coach come through a pitiful survival attempt totally unscathed, boosted even, may prove a godsend for us.

Yeah, I actually think this may not be a bad thing for us if KM is still undecided on which way to jump. Seeing that Kompany's stock is high enough to get the Bayern job after taking Burnley down will surely give him confidence that he will be in demand next summer regardless of whether he keeps us up or not. There's an article on McKenna in the Athletic this morning, not much new in there but they make a similar point and the tone is leading towards him staying being his best bet. Interestingly, from what I've seen, the majority of pundits are saying he should stay with us for now.
