What an ungrateful entitled lot we seem to have as fans. 07:26 - May 25 with 12491 viewshomer_123

Frankly, it's embarrassing.

Some of you lot don't deserve the last couple of years.

The garbage, vitriol and general sh*t being posted is a slight on the Club and on KM.

Wind your necks in and STFU.

Don't deserve after 20 yrs off utter dross. I think fans are understandably concerned And we're possibly still are excited where we can finish this coming season.

I keep thinking the Town fan reaction isn’t as entitle and bitter as I think, and then I read some other trash message… about betrayal or tarnishing or greed…

We’re in the Premiership. Yes he was backed but is mainly down to McKenna. 16th wage bill, 2nd place, guys a genius.

Celebrate what he gave us, and if he goes wish him well, and back the new guy.

But he’s still not gone. And he may have not even spoke to the suitor clubs himself yet.

No need to continue promulgating misinformation around the 23/34 wage bill; I assure his achievements hold up without doing so We will have been in a rowing boat with one oar compared to the parachute clubs, after all.

From Capology themselves: "All salary figures are estimates as actual salaries may vary. Unverified players are calculated using algorithms, or sourced from reporting that has not been confirmed yet." 26 of our 28 are unverified, which in Capology terms means they are at the full mercy of the algorithm. They have Omari earning £3K per week, Broadhead earning £3K per week, Walton earning £5.9K per week.. we know these to be ridiculous and it's the same story across most of the Championship.

16th in wages - here's the link... by Vegtablue 24 May 2024 12:56
Miles out mate. Our overall wage bill was £5M higher than Sheff Weds in 22/23. No way have they overtaken us this season, after shopping in bargain basement land over the past two transfer windows.

We paid £12.7M in playing wages in 22/23, as factually recorded in our annual accounts. There is then Championship wage uplifts, new signings and PL loans to consider. We will not be remotely close to £11.4M.

They have Cardiff's wage bill at £19.4M. We know they reduced playing wages down from £20M in 21/22 to £14M in 22/23, and were continuing to implement greater cost control this season. There is no way they've ballooned back to that kind of figure. There's simply no way parachute-less West Brom are within £1M of parachute-full Norwich, given the wage gap that existed in 22/23.

I won't continue as I'm repeating myself, but these salary tables are guff. There's a reason why the Athletic and others stay clear of posting their "data".

I suppose we are in uncharted territory too, as this is the first time I can remember that our manager has been courted by bigger, or more established PL clubs...

I just cannot fathom why he wouldn't want to manage us for at least a season in the premiership, when he has done such a remarkable job in getting us there... IF, the worst does happen and we go down, that won't damage his stock as much as people make out... Fact he's wanting out is a real kick in the balls, in my opinion

But we don’t know that he ‘wants out’ do we. There’s a big difference in him letting his agent talk to other clubs who may inquire about his services and him actually wanting to go.

Man U and Chelsea are mahoosive clubs and little old Brighton, though not a bigger club (imo) are currently a few years ahead of us in so many ways and would appear to offer greater Prem security for the next few years.

Do we really begrudge him the opportunity to at least listen to what they have to say? Like I say, that’s a very different thing to actually wanting to leave - which I very, very much doubt he does.

Journos run all sorts of stuff, half of which turns out to be wrong, or only partially based in reality. You don't know any of the rest of it. You have made all sorts of totally unjustified claims. Its damaging and counte r productive. Stop.

Ok, I'll humour you... What totally unsubstantiated claims have I made?! I've commented on what has been put into the public domain..

I mean, I don't know who you think you are to tell me what to do, or what I should think..

As a club, back in the premiership after so long we could have done without all this, but that's the price of having a successful manager! Fingers crossed he stays and carries on the incredible job he's done so far...

We've already discussed a few. Being in the public domain doesn't make them true.

"Fact he's wanting out is a real kick in the balls."

"I can't fathom why he isn't looking to manage town for at least one season in the premiership."

"you'd have to question whether he is still truly committed to us."

"Jimmy86 likes to poke badgers with spoons."

No evidence for any of these but they're all in the public domain now so they must be true?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I'm not saying I believe everything they say, same as the rest of the media, as I don't.. but for them to report what they did yesterday they would have had to have fact checked everything and verified it was true, before reporting it..

Stuart Watson has often spoken of what is required before they run a story.. sky must be the same as the Ipswich star at least, if not, more stringent in their checks and reporting

I'm not sure what you assert is particularly true.
It's well known that agents often cosy up to particular "journalists" and will feed them stories.

Stuart Watson has shown a lot of integrity and a high journalistic standard, I'm not sure the same can always be said of Sky Sports News.

Our fans do come across as entitled sometimes.

Won’t be a popular opinion given the uppies here but I do actually feel a little entitled that KM should give us a season in the PL.

Meanwhile, today in the news comments.....

"Poor McKenna, his ego will have taken a battering knowing a big club do not see him as the messiah. He has shown absolute disrespect for this football club, I fail to see why people still think he will be comitted to us. His fear of relegation and tarnishing his reputation is nothing short of disgraceful."

Sigh......

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Wow, there’s a heck of a lot of assumptions in that news comment based on absolutely no substance and a person they’ve probably never met.

I second your sigh.

Not sure about that, but if the numbers are levelling out now it’s only because the number of flouncing posts are dropping off as people are slowly moving through the acceptance phase. The board was pretty much unusable for a couple of days. It was the biggest flouncefest I can remember on here.

I reset my password to something complex that I wouldn't remember and locked myself out of my account until we knew one way or the other.

Sadly it has made me think there will never be an amicable parting with McKenna. Whenever he leaves he will owe us just one more season according to some.

Indeed. The man lead us from the cess pit of league 1 up to the Prem in 2 years. Feels like just yesterday we were watching Mick tell us to f off or Lambert telling us about his Dortmund days whilst we're losing to Fleetwood.

The fact some fans were so quick to hate him is mental to me, let alone before anything has happened.

Previously little-know young Coach takes over at League One club.
Season and a half later leads them to promotion to Championship.
Club starts to do well in the Championship. Other clubs start to take note.
Prem club (Palace) makes approach to Coach’s advisers. Young Coach is tempted but decides to try and finish what he started.
Club gets promoted to Premier League. Coach wins Manager of the Year trophy. Lots of focus on Coach now.
Brighton part ways with their manager and approach Coach’s advisers.
Chelsea, who want to have whatever Brighton have got, also approach Coach’s advisers.
Manchester United remember Coach used to be with them and ponder whether to approach Coach's advisers.
MU win FA Cup unexpectedly and don’t know what do with their leadership so draw up shortlist of possible successors to incumbent manager, including Coach, possibly at number 4, 5 or 6 on shortlist.
Coach’s current club decide to meet with Coach to see what can be done to convince him to stay.
Coach goes away to think about it with his advisers.
Even though Coach would dearly love to go to MU it seems unlikely at this juncture.
Coach decides that Chelsea is such a basket case at the moment that there’s a real risk of being sacked before the season starts.
Coach is tempted by Brighton but with improved offer on table by current club decides, as he did with Palace, to stay and finish the project there.
Happiness abounds at his club.

In short: Coach on an upward trajectory being courted by a number of high profile clubs who think he may be able to improve them. Said clubs either did/didn’t make offers. Coach made his choice on what was in front of him.
No pimping, whoring or disloyalty involved really.

I'm (perhaps naively!) optimistic we'll reach this point now. We'll have ticked the PL box with him and we won't be left wondering 'what if', should it not go how we all hope. If he keeps us up in this most precarious of seasons, he would have laid the foundations for us to survive in this league. Failure to capitalise afterwards would be on us. If he takes us down, you'd like to think the majority are sensible enough to recognize that his time managing in the Championship is over (unless his stock falls dramatically).

This is the year really in which we need all the help we can get, so very grateful to have kept them.
