It was a serious question. Budgets are very tight at the moment, cuts being made to public services. Now money has to be found to house, feed, clothe and train tens or hundreds of thousands of young people, while keeping them out of the employment pool.
And for what purpose? Why do we need a huge blob of troops - to conduct Russian style human wave attacks? Doesn't make military sense. | |

So why not make them into proper jobs for people? Besides which, they need trained staff, not kids on work experience.
Perhaps pay HCAs, nurses, jonior doctors and the a bit better, then they won't all be leaving the health service. | |
