He's just as important to this journey as Kieran. He's dedicated the last 3 years of his life to restoring the good times here. We should never forget that, no matter how Brent-esque he may be.

Important definitely but I don’t agree that his contribution is equal to KM’s or is even close. Irrelevant really though because we still have both and together along with the many others who all play a part we’re in great shape.

"Or is even close"!!! You're having a laugh surely.

This is hugely under appreciated - Ashton is critical, he preceded KM and I expect him to stay as and when KM moves on - he now understands the club culture and I imagine will already have prepared what to do should we lose KM, both in a short term and more strategically.

I don't think the working relationship between KMc and MA should be underestimated, I reckon that has played it's part in KMc staying as you need to trust your CEO and KMc knows what he is dealing with.

Some of the bullsh1t bingo you can do with the corporate jargon is off the scale but he says some sound stuff too, and one really can't fault the results of his management currently. Well, some could, but it would be so negative and mean spirited and churlish only a football fan could, arf :)

Ashton and the other execs have been given some stock (possibly options). They’ll be here a while.

He's (re)created the club culture tbf. He can take a big bow for that. ITFC had no culture except a losing one, and the so called "Ipswich way" was buried, dead, forgotten.

Without Ashton there to give him the oxygen he needs, I doubt Kieran would even be able to breathe properly.

Ashton identified and persuaded McKenna to come, and has kept him in the face of serious outward pressure.
Without Ashton (and Gamechanger and the cash) there would be no McKenna and his top notch staff. Don't forget Pert et al too.

Literally everything we do is being driven by that man. Ridiculous statement

Well, he did scout, interview and persuade McKenna to join us in the first place when he wasn't really well known, so Ashton can take a bit of credit for everything McKenna has done in my view

I don’t think he necessarily just understands the culture of the club, he is instrumental in shaping the culture of improvement. He's barely put a foot wrong for three years.
You're bang right here to be fair - the whole setup from ownership down allows the experts to get on with the bits that are their responsibility. Far cry from how Marcus Evans used to run things!

Sorry, I disagree. The owners, Chairman and CEO have been pivotal to the revival of this club. Without them, no structure, no investment, no organisation, no culture you have a football club just where Evans left it heading out of the football league.
McKenna and his staff have been brilliant and rightly get the headlines. Absolute stars and I have a sneaky feeling the PL are in for a bit of a shock. But they have been a perfect fit for what the club wanted to do, not the other way around.
If McKenna had left (or when he eventually leaves), the club structure will be able to withstand it and a new man an his staff will slot in. As good? Doubtful, but who knows.
Yes, I get the irritating Brentish/ bullsh1t bingo stuff and he’s of course made mistakes. People who do stuff always make mistakes. However, Ashton and the owners above him have got far more right than wrong and he’s been crucial to the last three years and this club growing at a rate beyond my wildest dreams.

I agree he can, I’m not saying he’s not done a great job because he has. He deserves a huge amount of credit. Put it another way though if we had to lose one of the two who would you least like to go?
