Will obstruct/restrict the view of rows A and B. Knew something like this was inevitable after seeing the incident happen.
Especially annoying being caused by an away fan sitting in usual home seats, with the glass now impacting home supporters for who there has never been such an issue.

To be totally fair to the club, the tools from block A who decided to walk down the roof and then jump down to the Cobbold lower for the pitch celebrations have probably played their part in making this happen too. |  |

Well no, it was always happening because they’ve had it in front of the away end for a year or two so was probably always going to be extended right along.

Well no, it was always happening because they’ve had it in front of the away end for a year or two so was probably always going to be extended right along.
It is a bit crazy though, a Stand which has been up for 50+ years and all of a sudden getting H&S modifications! |
If Evans had been a decent owner the H&S modifications would have happened years ago.
Our new ownership is the only reason for it being all of a sudden. | |

Everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club would like to thank you for your incredible support and trust you are looking forward to Premier League football in 2024/25.
As CEO Mark Ashton has previously stated in an interview with TownTV, a significant number of changes are being made at Portman Road ahead of the new season. This includes changes within the Cobbold Stand in order to house the number of away supporters required by Premier League rules.
This has seen the creation of a new Block V3 in the area which previously housed Block D, as well as the portion of Block C/E which ran behind Block D. This means Block C will now border with away supporters should the visiting team take their full allocation. Home and away supporters will be separated by a secure, stewarded, stairwell, enclosed by fencing, while additional segregation measures could also be put in place if required.
The away section will also include a Safe Standing area, from Row J to the rear of the block, meaning sightlines may potentially be impacted for some supporters situated in Block C.
Seats in rows A-H of Block V3 will be issued to the away club as seated tickets, with those purchasing in these rows advised to remain seated.
Additionally, supporters should also be aware that a clear glass safety barrier will be added to the front of the block, following a request from the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA). This will be visible for supporters sitting in rows A and B as they look out over the pitch.
Supporters should also note a new row of seating (Row J) has been added to Block C, removing the walkway which previously ran in front of Row K.

Yep, exactly what it was. We were constantly trying to get down the stairs and then getting shoved back by the stewards and police. One copper got all defensive about it when I asked him about it after the game, saying 'what?! We opened the gates and let you all on!' Which of course only happened once the deluge of fans was so great they had no choice. Also said something about they were stopping fans coming down as they were trying to let them onto the pitch in stages. Makes you wonder why they didn't simply communicate that before the match rather than the usual scare stories of fines and stadium bans for pitch encroachment... |  |

the fines and bans thing was the club playing by the EFL rules that say they must do everything they can to prevent pitch invasions, because they can be fined and given sanctions if they dont.
they cant then nudge nudge wink wink its alright lads just be patient we'll let you on but dont tell anyone before hand right. which is probably why you were getting mixed messages from the police/stewards.
though why didnt any of you just claim you were leaving the ground, to get down the stairs ? they cant prevent you leaving can they ?
obviously with the Maidstone incident, and then the end of season stuff, the club are probably forced by the ground insurance to then extend those barriers. because it becomes a blatantly obvious hole in the way the stand is setup, if its there to "protect" away fans and the extended section, but not the home fans. | | | |
