Euro 24 has been awful 22:02 - Jul 1 with 3616 views | RIPbobby | The first round of fixtures were fairly upbeat, but since then it has been awful. I have long complained that modern football is too dull. It is relatively easy for very sub standard teams to stifle strong teams. Need to tweak the games rules I think. These need more goals. It is just awful.

It's atrocious and will kill football if it's not addressed soon.

We’ve filled it out with international Norwich’s who just turn up and low block so they don’t get smashed. Wait till UEFA realise expanding to 32 to teams will make even MORE money so we end up with Gibraltar and Andorra qualifying…

I would eliminate shirt pulling. That is rife especially at corners. Handball is always handball forget the word intent. Never protect keepers like has been done forever. They are just the minor ones.

How about something radical, like a team can't be offside if the opponent has all 11 players in their own half? Would mean teams have to leave a player up, creating more space to play in, or all 11 defend and the pitch opens up behind the defence.

Euro 24 has been awful on 09:12 - Jul 2 with 2697 views | OldFart71 | Don't think I have ever seen so many negative teams in one tournament. I remember back to the times of the great teams of Brazil and Argentina, Italy and France and Germany. wasn't there just as much at stake as there is now and yet we had free flowing samba football. Even the lesser sides didn't sit back. Last night's game highlighted that Slovenia are just a defending side, they had one or two really decent opportunities to score in 120 minutes they couldn't score. Then they had three penalties and whilst credit should be given to the Portugese goalie they still failed to score. Not that defending isn't an art, but to sit back probably 105 minutes out of 120 they got what they deserved. nothing. just as Belgium got the night before.

Hockey dispensed with offside as a rule a few years ago. Could we see a time where football does the same?

I like that, although difficult to referee, particularly at grass roots level.

Aren't there 48 teams competing in the World Cup in 2026? That's around 25 per cent of all countries!! Madness.

The problem was the format of 24 teams competing. 16 or 32 would be better. The lesser teams like Georgia and Slovenia have not embarrassed themselves.

You're only offside if their is daylight between the attacker and the last defender.

Not sure that would make that much difference. For example, Stoke did a pretty good job if nullifying us with 10 men in their own half.

Also your 1 player in the opposition half would probably be offside if the other team is attacking which means they wouldn't be available for a long ball.

Euro 24 has been awful on 13:03 - Jul 2 with 2107 views | EddyJ | A small change I'd like to see to favour attackers: I'd like to see a crack down on "shepherding the ball out of play". If you haven't touched the ball, have no intention of touching it, and you are more interested in blocking the attacker from touching it, that should be obstruction.

It makes no difference where you draw the line, people will still believe it's a farce when there is only 1mm of daylight between the defender and attacker. The semi-automated offside system utilised in the Euro's seems quick and accurate which means it's very effective. No more waiting 2-3 minutes whilst someone decides when the ball was kicked and then has to draw lines manually. The sooner the PL adopts this system the better I say.

The intent of handball does seem to have been gotten rid of in this tournament, Germany's penalty against Denmark being a clear example. The ball being nailed at the defender from a couple of yards.
Euro 24 has been awful on 13:31 - Jul 2 with 2027 views | SE1blue | This new rule would trouble England but once over the halfway line when attacking, you cannot pass the ball back into your own half.
