Absolutely Horrific. I can't, and really don't want to, imagine what the families are going though.
I'm not going to give the person that did this any excuses. But surely there must have been signs that he was majorly mentally unstable (you would have to be to do this, wouldn't you)?
I'm not pointing a finger at our overstretched mental health professionals either, but maybe if they weren't overstretched, things like this are less likely to happen? [Post edited 29 Jul 2024 23:04]

The official line that I heard, at least initially, was that the perpetrator had mental health issues.
The appalling shortage of m.h. services, esp. for young people in the UK, is well documented (as you imply). |  |

This country is broken. And the people that suffer are your average families, small children. It absolutely breaks my heart.
My daughters attend local dance groups, along with all their friends, of various ages. This one hits badly.
I hope every single person that’s involved in why this piece of scum was on our street takes a serious long hard look in the mirror at themselves.

Sadly much the same as has been wrong with people in the past. History is littered with examples of horrific behaviour by humans against other humans. Doesn't make this any less horrible but we're kidding ourselves if we think the past was some kind of golden age where people were less violent. |  |

Lives lost, so many ruined for life. It is truly terrible.
Edit: it was an appalling situation for those who had to try and deal with this animal too. The general rule if faced by a piece of dirt with a knife is to run like hell - however skilled you are, you unlikely to come out of it well.
But these people had no choice. They had to try and do something right there and then about that creature. Brave people. When the full story emerges I hope they receive the recognition they so deserve. [Post edited 30 Jul 2024 13:59]

As with all tragic events like this they could be any of us. But for me it’s them being little girls, at a Taylor swift dance class.
I’ve two daughters who dance, and attend things like this. Prior to going they are playing the music in the kitchen, working out their little outfits to wear, genuinely believing they become their hero for the day.

Well obviously anyone defending this guy is going to go down the Mental health route, and i'm sure he must have issues to do this.
However, having said that, this goes beyond any normal Mental Health care and i'm uncomfortable blaming that. This is pure evil and seems like little motive involved.

Sounds as though some of the injured are improving. Two of the children are still critical but stable. So a little bit of hope maybe all the remaining victims will pull through, fingers crossed anyway. I can’t imaging what all the affected families are going through. Living in USA now, I very much agree with this comment. So many times I wish USA would bring in the no guns law and police it like UK did 30+ years ago.
I have friends in that area of England so this certainly opened my eyes. My thoughts go out to all involved in this including the police and medical staff. |  | | |

It scared me sh*tless when the kids used to come home saying they’d been practicing hiding in their lockers for a shooter drill. We only had one real alert, thankfully, and that was for someone spotted openly carrying a knife at the regional high school. The alert systems were amazing. We had instant updates by text and other schools went into alert or lockdown. A very impressive response, but beyond sad that it’s needed. | |
