Ugly Scenes in Southport 21:19 - Jul 30 with 20303 views | Zx1988 | No doubt these self same people were, last week, saying that anyone who attacks a police officer deserves to have their head kicked in.

Ugly Scenes in Southport on 07:41 - Aug 1 with 3275 views | noggin | Sadly, I think there will be major disorder across the country this weekend. Social media is full of posts urging 'patriots' to meet up in towns and cities across England. Hopefully the police will be prepared and prevent attacks on local communities. Scary times with the far right taking to the streets.

Ugly Scenes in Southport on 05:35 - Aug 1 by Ryorry | It’s always been registered users only. Has certainly worsened under the husk, but decent people need to stay on the platform to push back against the vile stuff. Always stick to ‘following’ though, never allow ‘for you’ (albeit some cr*p will always get through). ‘Community Notes’ have recently been introduced to allow people to provide fact-checking and context to appear alongside fake info - anyone can sign up to be a community notes provider (I have). |
As a non-registered user you used to have full access rights to read, so I could read whole threads, look at the latest posts from people, filter according to their posts and replies, etc. Now you can see an individual post if it's embedded in another page or via a search engine, but you can't click off that without it requesting login details. So I can't read a thread anymore, for example. And someone's feed will only show really old posts, not their latest posts. It's unusable now, which is fine as it's removed the temptation to dip into it. I think community notes is a step in the right direction.

Yes, it used to be good because as a non-registered user you were in control, so if something on the political front happened you could search various reputable journalists to find out their take on it. That is no longer possible but I don't really feel my life is the worse for it. [Post edited 1 Aug 2024 12:08]

Ugly Scenes in Southport on 12:42 - Jul 31 by itfcjoe | Chris Patten was on News Agents the other night and was asked about Farage, described him as like Liz Truss on economic policy, Jeremy Corbyn on foreign policy and as Tommy Robinson in a cravat |

Ugly Scenes in Southport on 23:09 - Jul 31 by Bigalhunter | Quote from sitters after he cut and pasted a load of that bile from X yesterday. ‘You can see how he can get people going though, made me wanna go and smash a random shop window watching that!’ Not exactly a resounding 100% condemnation…. |
You left out the word ‘dangerous’ at the end, which clearly suggests what I feel. Perhaps I should have said dangerous AND scary.

Ugly Scenes in Southport on 18:56 - Aug 2 with 2372 views | Crawfordsboot | Events in Southport were horrific and I will not add to the offensive arguments underway, however here’s a thought: Would those causing trouble argue that they are demonstrating and simply taking “direct action”. It highlights the question “when is direct action unacceptable?” Too often the argument is “ my cause is justified but yours isn’t!” Followed by “period”

Ugly Scenes in Southport on 21:42 - Jul 31 by Bigalhunter | Unfortunately, sitters bases his whole thought process around a load of dubious garbage he gobbles up on X. He’s been asked to stop regurgitating this crap on numerous occasions over the last few days, but it just doesn’t sink in. Lad knows best, apparently…. |
How about you stop trying to sh1t stir as others have asked? Your recent posting history is pretty much 100% digging at people and sh1t stirring. Don't know why you've started picking on Sitters recently. Maybe because you're not getting the reaction you're looking for from others. Bore off.

You'll never get everyone to agree on what is valid direct action (if everyone agreed, then I doubt you'd have people taking direct action!) However my criteria would be is it targeting a person, group, business that is directly involved with what your protesting. So JSO blocking or obstructing an oil refinery would seem reasonable. Throwing bricks at a Mosque because a non-muslim murdered 3 children is not reasonable. It's also worth remembering that direct action is undertaken with the knowledge that if caught you'll likely be imprisoned. It makes a big difference then if you commit the act and then go quietly versus attacking the police en masse.

Direct action against what? Lobbing bricks at the police (and their mate's ballsack) and attacking a completely uninvolved Mosque was direct action against what? I'd like to take direct action to prevent stupid, ignorant and short-sighted humans destroying our beautiful planet, but I wouldn't start lobbing bricks at rhinoceroses in the hope that it might achieve that aim.

No face no case, is a popular slogan amongst them. Think that says it all when you see it leaking out into the streets. Hopefully in the coming months some strict sentences for incitement etc will come to those who deserve them.

The brick to the balls is still funny every time I watch it. Surprised the police didn't double up laughing.

Excellent post, these morons attacking the police over past few nights are an utter disgrace and should be locked up, I could not care less about prison population these morons should end up there. They are vile thugs and to do this on the back of such an horrific multiple murder of children makes it even worse.
