I supoose it’s possible we want them both. But it seems far more likely seeing as we haven’t bid for Hamer before his release clause expired that the Hamer stuff is not the case and somewhere someone has mixed him up with the actual one we want (Ahmedhodžić). [Post edited 12 Aug 2024 23:16]

Think someone mentioned earlier, not sure how relevant the release clause is. If you activate that then normally it means you have to pay the fee up front. Not sure that'd be something we be looking to do anyway. |  |

Who's to say we're not looking at all other areas as well? It's clearly an area we're looking at based on recent links and makes sense to strengthen if we're looking to play 3 CB's more often this season | |

As a club we’re not looking to sign players to strengthen the squad in an order according to our perceived areas of weakness.
Can you imagine if we’d decided not to pursue Hutch because we needed a CM first? They’d be uproar.

Because release clauses have to be paid all up front. No room to negotiate in instalments. So no way we’d drop £18m from this seasons budget. Suspect we may have to pay more, but get favourable terms spread over a period of time. | |

Delighted to see the Hamer link was true. I just instantly assumed the press had the wrong player rather than considering we wanted both of them.
