FAO Blue Action 17:22 - Aug 17 with 18788 views | mccarthy_is_god | I’ve waited over 20 years to see my team walk out in the Premier League, a moment I’ve dreamed of for so long. But that moment was taken away from me. You’ve created your own special section to set yourselves apart from the rest of the club, and then put together a display that blocked the view of thousands of other fans, robbing them of seeing their team’s return to the Premier League. This isn’t what being an Ipswich fan is about. It feels like you’re more focused on making a statement than being part of the club’s journey. It’s disappointing and disrespectful to the rest of us who just wanted to share in this special moment. Stop being so self centred and selfish and think of other fans. I’ve spoken to many many people this afternoon and you are the only sour part of an otherwise great day.

I agree. A rare misstep from them and, given their efforts to date, doesn't necessarily warrant a two-footed attack of the severity of the OP. I assume that's why the banner didn't really work? I thought it was blown back by wind at the time, but did it end up getting pushed back by fans?

Not because they think they are special. I sympathise OP but that banner looked pretty damn good for those of us watching on TV and will have added to feeling that a big club has risen again. They've also had plenty of people asking if they were planning anything and they would have been criticised if they didn't do anything. You can hear it now...22 years and you didn't bother!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!1

It was pulled back in disgust by many fans across the north stand who have followed the team for years, fans who did not get to see their team walk out in the premier league. It does not matter what it looks like ‘ON TV’. It was a special moment robbed by others in a different stand. By all means do a display but let’s think about it properly and add to the occasion rather than cover it. [Post edited 17 Aug 2024 17:54]

Just to be clear, my tv comment was in relation to how it would be seen by other clubs, not Town fans sitting at home. It just added to what looked an electric atmosphere. Not suggesting that anyone shouldn't take issue with it if they want to.

FAO Blue Action on 17:58 - Aug 17 with 9822 views | pointofblue | Maybe a misstep, but banners have been organised before by Blue Action without complaint so can understand why they tried it again. I'm in the SBR so not sure what it looked like from the other side. Considering the work and effort put through the years - from our League One days to now - I'm not sure if this level of reaction in the OP and from a couple of others further down is warranted, though also understand the frustration.

FAO Blue Action on 18:27 - Aug 17 with 9500 views | jasondozzell | Blue Action are a huge part of why we are here. Their work to get behind the team and to put pressure on Evans to sell were huge in getting the regime change we needed. They have done brilliantly. Half the songs we sing are their doing! They were here when things were truly awful and they have visually consistently produced great displays. Not an easy thing to do. Sometimes the collective effort is more important than the individual. [Post edited 17 Aug 2024 18:42]

I like what BA have done, I've contributed financially to them, and will continue to do so. But, to not think about what they were potentially robbing a lot of fans from seeing was a bit short sighted of them. Not great really when you look back on it from your point of view.

FAO Blue Action on 19:28 - Aug 17 with 8998 views | SouperJim | I'm in the north stand lower 2 rows from the back, I had the same experience as you and was also disappointed not to see the moment our players walked out to a premier league game for the first time in 22 years. I did feel a little robbed of a highly emotional moment that has taken years of blood sweat and tears to achieve. However, while I think this was poor judgement from Blue Action, I also think you've gone in a bit hard here. They've contributed immensely to rebuilding our football club, stood up to Marcus Evans when nobody else would, and they absolutely bleed blue and white. I hope they will learn from this and keep tifos which block the view of supporters to a minimum, particularly on big occasions like today. But I will forgive them for the reasons above and I would hope you can do the same. Despite some promising signs today, we need everyone at this great little football club pulling in the same direction this season if we are to stay up.

I think this is pretty fair. Does it need the two footed approach of the OP, no. However I do agree it felt a bit entitled to assume that's what everyone wanted and a rare misstep. It'll be their response that is the most important thing now.

FAO Blue Action on 19:47 - Aug 17 with 8713 views | monkeymagic | Personally I think their contribution is under rated. In the last knocking of the Evans regime, they were just about the only good thing left. On that basis, I think they are owed some slack.

....we've had better. The end closest to the West Stand was either being blown back by the wind, or fans were pushing it out of the way, so it looked a bit odd. The rest of it, with the blue and white hold up things really didn't work at all. Sorry.

FAO Blue Action on 20:19 - Aug 17 with 8440 views | ITFCson | I thought it looked great. And so did countless others judging by the amount of people taking photos of it. It’s a shame the OP missed 30 seconds of the walkout. I recall a giant flag over the entire 8000 away fans in the San Siro, couldn’t see the pitch but the atmosphere remained, if anything it was enhanced.

Did they put pressure on Evans to sell? I’m a big fan, can see both sides today, but thought they were more modelled on European Ultras than a protest group. Compared to say Turnstile Blue and the odd Bedsheet type, weren’t they more in with the Evans regime, hence meeting Lambert et al?
