I shouldn't have watched Match of the Day 22:33 - Aug 17 with 4047 viewspointofblue

The highlights just depressed me. Was worse than the match itself.

Joe Hart as well - utterly useless.

He was much better as a summariser during the Euro's IMO. Maybe it's just because it's his first Match of the Day.

They didn't show our penalty shout (when Var ruled.it offside)

Anyone seen it on TV and got some insight into how close the offside was and whether the pen was likely had it been inside?

When the end of the world comes, all that will be left is cockroaches and Everton somehow still in the Premier League. They just won't let go.

Offside was close enough to need checking but not one where it was a fingernail, always looked off to the naked eye too.

Probably would have been a penalty otherwise I think

Gave the impression he hadn’t even heard of Ipswich Town before today. We did lose at home last season and I don’t think anyone was expecting three points at half time! Do better.

I did think Shearer's analysis was good though. Well, better than the EFL highlights anyway

What’s depressing about it? Watching our team compete against the best in the world is a joy, yes we lost but sadly we are going to lose quite alot this season, so just enjoy seeing our great club compete against the best in the world once again, depressing would be us back in league one losing to burton

Didn't watch it....was listening to Off The Ball on Newstalk over here...basically Ipswich are relagated after one game lol!

There is much more to come from us! We did ourselves proud...Ipswich is back competing and we well get a lot stronger and experienced.

What was depressing is it didn't look like we competed against Liverpool from the highlights. They tried to mention it, halfheartedly, in the review, but the first half came across as more "we need to get this out of the way to show Liverpool's dominance in the second half".

Exactly what I thought, rubbish first half highlights. Didn't see Hutch's booking which I wanted to see as thought it looked harsh live, and Shearer and Hart spent more time talking about the game than we saw footage of it, although that's a regular problem with MOTD - if you record it and fast forward through all the chit chat and pointless montages you can have it done in 30 mins.

Thought the summary was fairly accurate, especially Shearer. They all recognised how well we played in the first half, commended our bravery and said that once Liverpool tweaked things they were in control, which they were.

Pleasingly they didn't fall into the old "promoted therefore they don't stand a chance" stereotypes.

Who gives a sh*t what pundits think?

Those that were there today saw an excellent first half that demonstrated that we can compete at this level.

My thoughts exactly.

However... it doesn't matter. We know what a good and encouraging performance we put in for 50 or 60 minutes, what the rest of the country thinks shouldn't have any real significance to us fans, and it certainly won't to the team.
