West Ham Ticket Sales 'Profile' 09:17 - Sep 13 with 8070 viewstommcd

Assuming a 'sell-out' today (the day of the 15+ window opening), the Ticket Sales 'Profile' for the West Ham fixture is as below:

2661 seats were available for purchase within the 'points-based' sales windows (our full 'allocation' minus those reserved for the ballot, hospitality, players families and probably disabled/carers places).

748 (28.11% of available seats) seats sold in the 30+ window.

946 (35.55%) seats sold in the 25+ window.

846 (31.79%) seats sold in the 20+ window.

121 (4.55%) seats sold in the 15+ window.

Points of note:

* Higher volumes sold in all Windows (vs Soton), probably due to higher 'appeal' (ease-of-access, new stadium for many, etc).

* The 'peak' sales Window for West Ham was 25+, previously (Soton) the 'peak' window was 20+. Is the shift of the 'peak' an 'anomoly' due to the 'appeal' of the match? Or is it a 'trend' due to members moving en-masse up through the tiers? Too small of a result set to be sure one way or the other.

* Brentford up next, probably will be a very short 'profile' as I would expect to see very few tickets making it through to the 20+ window. Maybe there'll be a new 35+ window introduced soon, the 10+ and 5+ windows are pretty much redundant anyway...

Appreciate the info, good to see data like this.

However, does not bode well for my chances of tickets anytime soon.

I'm on 15 points, tried yet again and failed to get a ticket. I've supported my team since 1966, but I'm now effectively barred from getting to watch my team live by this system.

Superb. Really wish the club would just say how many are in each bracket.

Assume you run some sort of software on it and don’t count the seats yourself?

Same, was on the site at 9:30, clicked on the link at 10am, got through to the stadium selection plan but wouldn’t let me select anything. Then came up as sold out :o(

Southampton didn’t sell out at the 15+ bracket so I assume you’ll be there for that?

I suffered the same this morning, couldn’t get a ticket, but no one is being barred from watching their team.

Current system is perfectly fair.

AFC Wimbledon made it to 10 as well but not 100%. If it didn’t then there was plenty for the 15+ band.

There were plenty left at 15+ and loads of tickets available up to kick-off but for some odd reason was never released to the 10+ group.

So tickets went unsold.

You are not barred, you simply have less chance of getting tickets which are in very high demand, than those who attended more away games than you in recent seasons. There is also a ballot for those who were unable to get tickets based on points.

Personally, I would increase the percentage available in the ballot.

The shift will continue as we move through the season. We’re now three away games down (before WHAM) so people will have started to move up the categories too.

….I’ve just realised that I’m already (amongst many others) in the 15+ priority window for next season.

Really highlights what a “closed shop” away matches are now.

Agree with your point re the ballot percentage. I live in Bristol so can't get to every away match and have another commitment for the Southampton game. I'm hoping demand will flatten a bit later in the season.

I know we don't know the profile for all games, but do we know what categories have been able to buy tickets thus far?

I'm guessing that so far, people in 15+ have been technically able to accrue 5 extra points, but those on 10+ have possibly only been able to accrue 1 (Wimbledon only?). As a trend then, you'd expect the 15s to start making their way in to 20s and leaving 10s unable to get many extra points.

Wimbledon was a strange (and frustrating one) if I remember right.

It intially sold-out at 15+. A day or two later a fair few tickets became re-available (maybe when members who bought to get the point with no intention of attending, were informed of the need to 'collect on the night', so cancelled?). Tickets that became available after the initial sell-out were only ever available to the category where it initially sold-out (15+). The end result was quite a lot of tickets remained un-sold, which with the clamour for tickets / opportunity to earn a point etc, is a real shame.

Whilst the current system is frustrating for many, it's about as 'fair' as it can be. I do feel sorry for people who went to away matches last season, but didn't have a membership so didn't accrue points.

I also think the Club were a bit cheeky with the Ballot, they'll clearly have sold a lot of memberships on the promise of 'it'll let you into the ballot' when in reality, due to the 2% cap, you'll be lucky to get a 'win' once every couple of seasons. I expect membership sales/renewals will suffer next season as a result.

Personally I'd like to see any tickets becoming available after the initial sell-out, go straight to 5+ sale (avoiding the Wimbledon scenario) and the pitiful 2% ballot increased to at least 10%.

And in answer to a few other questions:
I have no 'insider' information.
I don't have stats for City, Wimbledon, or Brighton sales, and can't acquire retrospectively.
I don't use any software to gather the stats, it's manual, but not as much as you probably think.
I've got no way to jump queues, buy 'out of window', etc (I wish!).

I'd be surprised if anyone without memberships got many - if any - tickets last season. Perhaps Middlesbrough or Blackburn, but I reckon they were about the only ones that went to general sale weren't they?

The system is about as fair as it can be. Although I do think what would have been especially fair would be to have taken a 2-3 year record (since the Covid season probably) to better cover those of us who have been traipsing round the country for the past 20 years when tickets certainly weren't in high demand (the amount I spent on Gold Cards, only to get special invite e-mails anyway for the few Norwich matches, and that Wimbledon game that were rationed anyway!!). Still - it is what it is, we all know the rules and the people who have put in the hard yards in the crap times are now getting some just rewards, even if it does mean I can't bring friends or my wife to the odd game any more...

Its good to see these stats despite me hyaving no chance of getting a ticket.

The system is probably the best they can do, but it does seem like it doesn't give much of a chance to anyone outside the 15+ bracket to get additional points.

It is fair for those who are in the high points brackets

For those in lower points brackets they are effectively locked out of going to away matches

In my view the current system therefore is not fair as it just perpetuates the same people going all the while and locks out everyone else (apart from the meagre scraps of the ballot)

It is definitely a closed shop for away games this season except for the handful that go into the ballot but the main cause is not the club’s system; it’s all away tickets now being capped at £30. An unfortunate consequence of this is that clubs with the largest stadiums are now selling the bare minimum allocation to away teams (3,000). So whereas before, people in lower brackets would be able to have a shot at Arsenal, Spurs, Utd, etc… now it’s purely the same 3,000 going to each game (or less for <30k stadiums).
