The secret service agents instead of keeping him down in an active shooter situation allow Trump to be exposed so he can get up and urge his followers to fight fight fight? I’m not quite sure what people are finding hard to understand here.
A man took shots at Trump. One shot hid a man sat directly behind Trump, killing him.
Another bullet grazed Trump’s ear, causing a lot of blood but wouldn’t need a massive covering.
Another inch or two closer and Trump would be dead.

I’d be surprised if the first one was all staged and they were prepared for people in the audience to die in the process. It seems fine to believe it (and this one) were as portrayed.
But to be honest, I couldn’t really care about Trump. He’s a nutter and attracts other nutters. I find the constant drama that seems to revolve around him a waste of energy. I’d be quite happy if we never had to hear about him again. |  |

I think the autocue getting hit and glass hitting Trump is more likely than the bullet grazing him, seemed that way at the time and the recovery seems to indicate that as well.
Although that is not really the point you were making, he was clearly short at by an attempted assassin, they were just slightly further away from hitting him. I don't buy the 'fake news' angle of it.

Just in general, it's very hard and unwise to ever be absolutely certain of anything much unless you're directly involved in it (even then...), so a default position of some level of open-mindedness is always a good idea.
How open your mind is to various conflicting sides of a news story is largely influenced by your perception of the basic honesty and integrity of the protagonists. Then you have to take into account confirmation bias and the types of media you absorb information (and/or mis- or dis-information) from.
I found the first incident almost cartoon-like in its basic failures and the spectacle of the near miss without serious injury to Tr*mp. My gut instinct then was 'stunt'. But then a bloke was killed. This second incident seems much more believable.
The fact that Tr*mp is a demonstrable narcissistic liar and manipulator, and Vance admits he is too, influences my personal judgement of what I think probably has happened, and yet I now suspect neither were stunts.
A lot of waffle, but what I'm trying to say is that Tr*mp and his like have undermined trust so much that nothing seems real any more, and the lunatics are taking over both wings of the asylum. In doing so they've done a massive disservice to US politics, and of course that contagion is well set in around the world too. | |

The little eco system we have on here is nothing compared to what goes on in Twitter but it probably provides some sort of mirror, minus the Russian state interference. Which is analogous to a Norwich fan posing as one of us.
But in reality I don't really believe that ten people upping a post on here saying its a stunt is an issue, but it does make me reflect that's probably what's going on in X.
And then it makes me, like you, sad that what we used to take as a relatively balanced world where truth would just logically trump (no pun intended) over, well, Trump. It turns out that all people have to do now is say that's a lie and it's because people from Haiti (who I understand in Springfield are legal and not illegal migrants) eat dogs.
We debate sometimes if capitalism is failing the world, even though Russia and China are as much a capitalist, rich, elite controlled society as any in the West. But maybe it's starting to be democracy that's failing the world. People don't like the way the worlds going and the just want Autocrats to take over and tell them all the problems have gone away. | |

No-one is saying the no-one died, but Trump’s ear is fully healed. Literally not a scratch, but he maintains he was hit by a bullet, not shrapnel.
People are quite rightly doubting how injured he was and why the Secret Service allowed him to again stand up after being ‘shot’, giving the shooter another clear shot.
The headline here is currently “Man not shot” and on a day where his campaign admitted to making up stories to gain favourable headlines (e.g. Dog-gate) |
I can't stand the man, but to put the rally shooting in any other category than "Survives assassination attempt" is a nonsense.
