Why do you always need an opposing view? What’s wrong with widely known truths?
How do you know what the truth is if you're only told one side of something and a side that only benefits the owner of the station they're sharing their view on? I guess you don't care as long as you agree with it hey? It's like lookeast with their Norwich bias, if you watched that and didn't look into what they're telling you you'd think Norwich were the most successful team ever and Ipswich were just some small wannabe Norwich. Maybe we should just accept their widely known truths as well?

Cracking fun, though.
I don’t know whether Phil’s creating these characters for sh*ts and giggles, or TWTD has been incorrectly identified as a crucial swing state.
Either way, it doesn’t really explain this Zapers character, but it’s always good for the forum to have a right leaning pantomime villain that can string a sentence together.
Confuses the hell out of the real ones.
Indeed, TWTDsylvania is worth a vital 19 votes in the electorial college.

Any views on the shape of the earth?

We should be sceptics.
Which means also recognising that the existence of two views does not make them remotely equal.

Lived experience and expertise, findings of genuine experts, etc. It’s not tough. If someone doesn’t have the ability to assess the validity of a view, they probably shouldn’t be automatically looking for ‘alternative truths’. That’s the problem. Not only do people often have no understanding of an area, they also lack the skills to assess the validity of the information they do see. It makes them highly vulnerable to cranks or people with vested interests.
If someone doesn’t have the knowledge or experience to have an informed view on a subject, it’s often fine to trust the experts. It’s likely the best they can do at the time. It doesn’t mean all expert opinion or personal experience will definitely provide the right answer, but it’s likely to be the best we can do at any given time (given we should always be learning, challenging and updating our understanding).

We should be teaching analytical thinking and scepticism at schools, along with basic research ideas. the concept of checking and analysing sources, assessing motives, and not accepting a proposition until there is evidence to justify it.

You would say that, as the teachers, analysts and researchers are all deep state puppets and paedophile gang ring leaders
Totally agree, it might help stop people who genuinely think that ^.

2045. It’s when non Hispanic non whites are projected to become the minority in the USA. The MAGA crowd see the time between now and then as a chance to gain as much power as possible to the detriment of non white people.
Edit posting whilst in a queue for a Paul Weller concert so will elaborate later

Hope it was a good gig. Catching him next month at the Apollo.
PS. Sorry all for the slight deviation from the point of the thread.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Late to this thread ...but amazed, in terms of "a f**kin circus", no-one's mentioned Musk's $1m a day he's giving to voters in swing states if they sign a pro-Trump petition. How on earth is this allowed?!
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I totally agree which is what I advise people to stop watching BBC news etc. the problem is the only experts allowed on these propagandist news shows are the ones who agree to only repeat the view of the people who run the channels not an individual expert opinion just the opinion they want out there at the time. Look at all the experts who were silenced in 2020, 2021, 2022 but have now all been proven right.

It's a bit scary how the passage of a short amount of time has seen the rotting and decomposition of the politics in even the greatest bastions of western democracy.
How can we be in a situation where a character like Tr*mp - a shameless, childish, fcukwit of a liar, who tried to instigate a coup d'etat in his tantrum after losing last time - can even be running again, let alone with a decent chance of winning! He should be in an asylum.
Reagan, Bush and Thatcher would be spinning in their graves.

You totally agree and then you go on to describe how you think other people are not up to assessing the output from the BBC (presumably you would extend your opinion to Al Jazeera and euroNews too ?)
It is important to take in reporting from journalists who actually go to dangerous places and talk to the people affected, even if you don't agree with their viewpoint. Otherwise you risk falling victim to the burbling ramblings of someone who sits in front of a keyboard most of the day addling little to their lived experience.

There’s going to be some serious bed wetting on here when Trump wins

If that happens, there will certainly be many people on here and around the world genuinely and reasonably concerned about the consequences. The idea of the world's most powerful nation once again being governed by someone so obviously unfit is frightening.

So again, what is it you think will be better if trump wins?
Surely if you keep posting without even being able to answer a simple question about what you post then you are just a troll and should go the way of the rest of them?

I don't really understand how anybody could think that Trump will make life better overall for anybody, except Trump, if he wins.
The short-term, self-interest pathway towards environmental and social destruction affects fascists and narcissists too, even orange ones.
