Is America really your closest ally? What a f**kin circus.

I had £500 at 1.82 about 2 weeks ago.

And have also played more recently at 7/4 for the election winner to lose the popular vote. Frankly that’s ridiculous as trump is odds on everywhere and the republicans have only won the popular vote once since 1980. Market discrepancy

I read something about big bets from outside the States being made on some exchanges, it has been presumed, to try to move the odds in Trump's favour to give the impression he's well ahead in the race. Indeed, I've seen a lot of odds cited as if they're polls by MAGA tweeters.

Wikipedia itself is very left-leaning. It can be a good source for scientific things like chemical formulas, but for any field where there is room for opinion, it will be biased.

The US political circus is not that different to the UK. We’ve been reducing policy to three word sound bites for decades.

That is a right-leaning site and it's alleged elsewhere there have been deliberate attempts to flood the polling space with biased right-leaning polls.

But agree, generally, the word is it's going to be close, however, wouldn't entirely surprise me if Harris wins more comfortably than predicted. Early voting in swing states seems in her favour, turnout appears to be high, which again ought to favour her, and if the polls are like 2022, then the Dem vote was under-represented.

Phil is right, it's in the bag for Harris. It won't even be close.

The Poll leads for Trump aren’t really a surprise and are very deliberate/staged for 2 primary reasons:

1, Trying to build momentum and encourage perception of popularity so that more of the floating voters feel they can join in with backing the winner (not sure it will work but largely harmless)
2, Laying more foundations that a win for Harris must be corrupt/fixed as will be opposite to all those polls predicted. This one is more worrying for me as I think it’s deliberate to enrage the MAGA loons as these polls are being legitimized across the entire spectrum of media channels

I'm actually quite nervous for the reaction to a Harris victory. I think it will be far worse than what happened on January 6th.

There is a big difference in the amount of money spent. Between them, Republicans & Democrats, they will spend $5.5B on the Presidential election and another $10B on Senate & House elections.

Another difference is you can get a State electing a Senator for 1 party but electoral votes going the other way for the Presidential election. Currently Harris is ahead in the polls in just 1 of the so called swing 7 states but 6 of them seem likely to elect a Democrat as Senator.

Not sure if Crazy, or corrupt, is the best word to describe their electoral systems.

Polling has been moving Trumps direction steadily the last few weeks and early voting is backing this up.

All swing states now likely for a Trump win and even New Mexico & New Hampshire in play.
Republicans will also win the house.

Republicans will clear 300.

Genuinely, what policies or actions do you think will be better under Trump? I can’t think of a single one but I’m fair from an expert so interested in trying to learn and understand alternative views on the subject

I'm interested in this as well, keep hearing "They are both awful" but to me, one seems at least vaguely sensible with a career in law and a mixture of policies I'd agree with and some I disagree with and the other is... well he's Donald Trump.

It needs to be a landslide for Harris. Which I can’t see happening. If Trump loses narrowly I can see it getting very nasty.

Biden needs to take some responsibility . He should have stepped aside far earlier and given the democrats a chance to field an open primary for candidates.

Yeah I'd agree with that, it became shambolic before he finally stepped aside. I'm not sure even a landslide will stop there being major issues, it's been bubbling up since Obama became President.

I think the problem for Harris is she has no policies of note and when asked about them never answers the question. If they had not concentrated on Orange man bad, orange man fascist and promoted their own policies that would help peoples pockets they would have had this wrapped up already.

Democrats have scored an own goal and whoever is directing their campaign should be fired.

Appreciate the response but it doesn’t actually answer the question I asked, will put it to you as the poster I asked has declined to answer (despite being on the thread to downvote a post made after my question to them)

So to you, what policies/reasons do you think Trump would be better than Harris? I make the assumption that is your view given you previous posts, by all means correct me if that isn’t the case.

Yep, cause half of USA vote based on race or gender?

The black, Hispanic, Muslim and Jewish votes are massively up for Trump so he must be doing something right and hitting the right notes in the right places. Democrats are failing on that front and its nothing to do with race / gender just lack of competence under pressure or without a script of their candidate.
