I feel I should own up and take responsibility here. Since having a kid in February I haven't been able to get on here as much a share the correct opinion. I feel this has lead to repetitive arguments as people can't draw consensus around my opinion and let their own incorrect opinions go.

Your first post on this thread was simply putting the boot in and a very thinly disguised attempt at stirring. As skm said, the skirmishes are mostly caused by a poster being deliberately provocative or edgy to provoke a reaction, and then crying foul when they rightly get negative replies. 99% of sh1tstorm threads that Phil has to delete begin this way. |
It wasn't thinly disguised or an attempt at stirring - It was a direct observation of how these posts usually go. If I named names it would be provocative and baiting, but I am more than happy to be direct if called out.
As for crying foul when I get negative replies, well, I don't very often make a serious op and am more likely to be reactionary. I stand my ground when I see the never ending cycle of people picking and needling others over and over again in a targeted manner and then having a victory lap once they're banned or the smug crap about "flouncing off" when people take a step back for a while.
I'm not claiming to be something I'm not. I have a swipe on me if I'm needled or see others needled in the course of a debate - simply because Phil has stated he wants the board to self moderate. Standing up for people who are routinely picked on isn't necessarily a bad trait either.
However, full circle... I'm not disguising anything, there are people on this board who don't care about debating, the mental wellbeing of others or the fact there is a real person behind the screen. We're all Town fans and on this forum should realistically be a group of people with a common cause that disagree a bit - not a bunch of people who are reliving high school cliques and popularity scalping who happen to support the same footy club. |  |

Didn't see what happened after ft for the international, but can imagine.
Same old same old futile arguments on the eternal M East conflict, feels like it's being conducted by proxy on here - and always the same couple of people kicking off new threads, on what feels like an almost daily basis.
As the same arguments always tediously shoot round the same inevitable circle, here's an idea for Phil - just lock an old one at around page3, then pin it, so everyone looking for an argument on the subject can just re-read what's been said 1,000 x before & save themselves & everyone else the time & trouble of doing it for the1,0001th time. |
POTD. The sadness is that it is possible to have a good debate on here (e.g. the assisted dying thread was I thought was interesting with plenty of differing views and no rancour) but not on certain subjects.
To keep digging up these topics time and time again which always end the same way for the administrators to then have to delete them is unfair on them.

Perhaps you're right, they threads degenerate into the same people making the same accusations at other users time after time after about the third page and others just joining in to poke people.
I do think those people who want to spend their time arguing about the Middle East really ought to take it elsewhere as I think most of us are fed up with it dominating. |
I think it was informally agreed that there would be one running thread on antisemitism and one running thread on the conflict in the middle east, just as there is one thread on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I think it was Dan's idea, which I took onboard so there is only one running thread in antisemitism around the world post 7/10/23.
I've not posted on the antisemitism thread since July but there seems to be multiple threads a week on or related to what's going on in the middle east, starting up most weeks if not days and always by the same 2 posters.

An incredible post given the nonsense you've been posting recently clearly designed to antagonise what you regard as the "woke" element of the forum.
