Seemed to just be turning into the usual mud-slinging and misrepresentation. Got too much to do to deal with the abuse reports, PMs and emails which these threads generate. Not really sure it should be my job to deal with all that on what's ostensibly a football forum.

WKJ always one of the first posters in any thread that gets pulled. The voice of reason, or so he likes to think.

Personally I can’t think of a bigger hypocrite on TWTD.

I don't mind people reporting things which they think are out of line, but when it turns into a lengthy dialogue and then banned ex-posters send me abuse by email, that's when I think it gets a bit much.

I feel I should own up and take responsibility here. Since having a kid in February I haven't been able to get on here as much a share the correct opinion. I feel this has lead to repetitive arguments as people can't draw consensus around my opinion and let their own incorrect opinions go.

Sorry all.

So an alternative solution might be for the regular starters of such threads to go forth and multiply?

Agreed Ryorry, it’s just the same two posters trying to wind people up.

It’s actually pretty disgusting because the implication is that nobody else cares.

I suspect everyone of us cares, but there is nothing that we can do.

Stop ramming it down our throats!

To be fair Dolly, I still harbour a bit of resentment for the "It's Just a Rock" debate, considering that a "Conscious sun" could be viable. I'd still take you out to dinner, but I might not pay for the starter - if you catch my drift.

Do you know, I was mucking about really when I first came up with that ("maybe the sun's conscious") but I keep seeing stuff about panpsychism all over the place these days. Especially youtube, and I've read two books advocating it.

Essentially the idea is that consciousness is fundamental - a tiny spark of it (for want of a better word) is in every atom. Some develop to be the top version (human consciousness, as far as we know), but in other things it's a very, very basic level of consciousness (nothing like human, but a form of consciousness all the same).

I read an interesting study about plants placed in a kind of 'maze' that grew towards running water. Then the water was removed and just the sound of running water was played... and the plants again grew towards it. Even though plants don't have ears!

There's lots more, that's just one example, but fascinating stuff.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

An incredible post given the nonsense you've been posting recently clearly designed to antagonise what you regard as the "woke" element of the forum.

Then when provided with evidence which shows your posts to be nonsense you just write "have a lovely day" and refuse to engage with the evidence provided.

The attempts to rewrite the narrative on this thread are quite astonishing.

I think it was informally agreed that there would be one running thread on antisemitism and one running thread on the conflict in the middle east, just as there is one thread on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I think it was Dan's idea, which I took onboard so there is only one running thread in antisemitism around the world post 7/10/23.

I've not posted on the antisemitism thread since July but there seems to be multiple threads a week on or related to what's going on in the middle east, starting up most weeks if not days and always by the same 2 posters.

Yes, that was me. The idea was that people who have no interest or who don't wish to discuss the topic can just hide the thread and be done with it and (somewhat naively) I thought that it would then contain the sprawling arguments from infesting other threads if there was basically a designated zone to have these arguments that everyone else can ignore.

It's not really worked. At this point, I'd just ban the topic altogether if it was me, draconian as it is. People don't seem to be able to discuss it without it getting very heated.

I give up on threads which look like they are descending into bickering but in my view it is not just threads on the Middle East, and not just threads that get pulled.

Perhaps the best advice I would offer is for people not to bear grudges, which seem to me to underlie much of the bickering that goes on.

The thing of it all, is that I don't actually contribute to many of the posts that get pulled, but I do highlight them to Phil via DM if I think they're turning into an unrelenting bickerfest. Whilst everyone is the hero of their own story, I don't claim to be a voice of reason. However, I am a voice of conviction - if I think it, I say it. If something is silly, then I will try to out do it with a sillier response.

You've decided you don't like me based on having virtually no interaction with one another, I suspect you've made your mind up in part because of who I have a friendly rapport with.

One thing I will give Blueas credit for is he reached out to me and we had a little natter and better understood one another's points of view, and it was amicable. Given that you and I have had very limited interactions with one another on TWTD (as Zapers), your level of disdain toward me is a bit weird, but then the majority of your posts on TWTD are void of positive tone.

In any case, you're pretty wildly off the mark on this one.

Totally agree and by more than 1 poster too. The lack of self awareness and/or personal responsibility of a few posters is astounding. Lots of looking at of the window rather than in the mirror unfortunately

Just out of interest, do you always sign in when you’re viewing the forum? I only sign in when I want to post, so even if I had posters on ignore, I would still see their posts.
