its a badly written sentence but its saying the initial deal is 20mil.

I would have thought a buy back clause only applies as a matching one?
Man City cant just rock up one window and say we are applying the buy back clause and he's off.
It would be very annoying if they did have an option to buy him at a fixed price if and when we do come to sell him. If that was the case, I assume we would go until the very final window. | |

Pound to a penny the deal is structed as per the Philogene deal that Villa had, i.e. City can match any offer we get, and then have a 20% discount, or they can take 20% of any sale we make. It's the option that makes the most commercial sense for all parties. |  |

I can’t imagine a buy back isn’t at least double his transfer fee so I’d argue that benefits us to a very major degree, especially if he scores the goals that keeps us up.
The biggest learning for us all is that if we continue to be successful few of the players that really contribute to that will stick around long, and, a la Brighton etc it’s a case of replacing sensibly but obviously not getting too attached! Regardless of where we end up this year, Davis, Delap, Hutchinson, Greaves as examples will be sought after if they stay fit. | | | |
