If we end up with something like this, we HAVE to make our voices heard. It only emphasises the haven we have with Ed at present.

Yeah but he did say quite a bit early on that he found no reason to go cat 1

He didn't say that, he said he didn't see the value in it as Cat 2 has worked for him at Bristol City - he didn't definitively rule it out forever

Yes but if we hadn’t taken their millions upon millions of sponsorship to be a ‘Club Partner’ (same sponsorship level as the likes of Hawk Express and First Bus), we wouldn’t have been able to afford Liam Delap, or something

If/when 8xBet turns out to be another betting-related put-up job, I dare say none of the outlets reliant upon favourable access to ITFC will ask any questions.

Absolutely a when and not an if situation. Dodgy as hell and then some.

Aren't betting sponsors being banned in 2026 anyway?

I thought that they were banned from being the main shirt sponsor but will be allowed to continue as sleeve/ shirt sponsor?

What are the current rules around sponsor positions? Do the EFL/EPL regulate where sponsors' logos can be placed on shirts (chest, shoulder, top of back etc.,), or could this lead to open season and shirts being covered with gambling sponsors in every possible location except the chest, a bit like on T20 shirts in certain competitions?

Think it’s a Premier League partner more than an independent club partner. Probably something we had to have pushed on us.

That’s how I heard it. I thought the owners were hostile to betting companies. Ashton? Who knows but the club has taken a pretty consistent line on this and we know what Ed Sheeran’s view on it is. I doubt he’d have invested in the club if he thought his sponsorship was going to be replaced with Bet-dingaling.dot.com.

What a sponsor can offer when fans get stuck in a corner really needs to be taken into consideration more often.

As suggested on here before it will be The Hot Sausage Co. Logo on the shirt and strategically placed sausage on the front of the shorts.

8XBET

I've liased with the club on this one, signposting them to the excellent work by Martin Calladine and Phillippe Auclair as well as the Josimar article. I've offered my take on all the evidence I've found. I'm astonished that someone signed this deal off. Hence why there was no launch or media or about it.

I also received that copy and paste reply.

Believe more will be coming out soon from a journalistic perspective specially on the ITFC deal with 8XBET

I can't imagine anyone connected with the club, be it in an official capacity or a fan media/journalistic perspective would be willing to stick their neck out and do a deep dive on it and would probably prefer to play it safe.

They're according to my research the worst of the worst of all the gambling (not gaming) companies to be associated with.

My latest communication with the club hasn't been responded to so we'll just wait for the international press to pick up the story and hold the club to account.

That sounds as if it could be particularly damning.

Something along the lines of the club having a far greater awareness of the issues with 8XBET at the point at which they signed them as a sponsor?

Exactly - you needn't be a qualified legal conveyance type to realise that they're bad news and in no way, shape or form align with our perceived/claimed values or those that we aspire to.

And that's after half an hour or so looking them up online and reading a few articles.

Think the club have been well and truly sold down the river by which ever marketing firm set us up with 8XBET

Especially if, as it may appear, part of their spiel was "Clubs X, Y, and Z have already partnered with them, and you would expect them to have done their own due diligence, right?"
