If they can get a number 10 in to replace him. Straight swap with Clarke??

Having him on loan would be great. Jack is going nowhere.

I haven’t followed Villa, really. Has he played much?

Not much at all. Fewer minutes that Clarke has had here (in the league anyway), and less of an impact.

Can't see that it would make any sense at all as a loan signing.

Might be a fit.
KM has already demonstrated that he can get the best out of most players. Delap wasn’t an established prem forward when he signed.
I suppose it depends on on whether KM thinks he has the potential.

Offer them £5m for all our time they wasted, and they might think twice about how they've depreciated their own asset by hoarding.

Last thing we want to be doing in an important window is effing about with all that again, we need players through the door 1 and 2 Jan not 30 and 31 Jan.

In short the agent went for the dough and not the career progression of the player, he would have likely started most games for us and last night had his face splattered over every international sports platform if he joined us pre season branded as an young English forward, one to watch along with Hutch and Delap.

That's how you get value from a player as an agent, him sat on the bench at villa at 22 is a waste of time.

Maybe they just move him on as a permanent deal? He’s one we clearly really like and if we can get him now then I’d be all for it.

Wouldn’t be the first player to turn us down for a better option and then end up here a few months later - happened with George Hirst previously when we chased him all summer and he went to Blackburn then joined us in the January

I've actually been told he is coming here.

Don't want to pretend to be Mr ITK but it has been fed back to me.

Could be wide of the mark but only commenting as I was told yesterday and you started this thread on him.

If he was available cheaper than we were going to pay then I'd be all for it.very good player. I think from memory whilst he's played more on the left he has also played from.the right.

Whilst it was bad for us I hold no I'll feeling to the player. Wasn't his fault Villa waited so long to activate the clause and it was a great opportunity for him (champions league football etc). No issue with a player backing themselves.

Can see more sense in a permanent move, but not sure if Villa and Philogene would want to bail this early after all the drama in the Summer.

I'd also have reservations, as I think we need players in January who can have an immediate impact.

Would also mean us conceding that Clarke simply hasn't worked, and is not likely to.

Agree with your second para though, and we do tend to keep going back in when we identify a player we want!

Can Philiogene play on the right aswell? as we do need a new option with Ogbene out of action

If he’s been out with a hammy for some length of time as per Melb’s post, then no thanks, have had it up to here with chronic or recurring injuries, esp hamstrings!

Don't know the answer to that - if it is a position he's good at, then maybe that's the answer.

We have Broadhead, who has just gotten himself back into the starting XI, and Jack Clarke & Sammy Szmodics, who we paid a combined £25m in the Summer, currently fit & vying for the left-sided attacking role.
It is unlikely that we'd be prioritising an additional left winger in this window, especially when we are moving more to a 5 at the back formation, which calls more for a pair of #10s behind Delap (Hutchinson & Broadhead v Chelsea), than the 3 with clear right & left wing attackers.
Szmodics has had some success, & he works his socks off although he is not really comfortable in the formation we have, while it has been a tough step up for Clarke, but even still, I can't see us jettisoning either at this point, in order to bring in a player unproven at PL level, who has struggled with injury this season, even though the manager likes him & he was our first choice for the left side during the Summer.
We need to address the problem at right back & right sided attacker due to the Tuanzebe & Ogbene injuries, plus I think we'll move for 2 centre forwards/strikers, to cover Hirst's injury issues, Delap's likely drop off in form due to working so hard in his first full season of senior (Premier League) football, plus allowing Al Hamadi out on loan to z Championship club.
We will need to keep a PL loan spot for one of them surely.

I thought he looked good for Villa when he played. He has that aggression needed to play as a winger at this level. Obviously has lots of talent too. I’d take him in a heartbeat.

Maybe J Clarke hasn't settled in the area and we think it might be best to send him back home for the rest of the season
