£16m bid rejected for Ben Doak… on 21:08 - Jan 3 by pointofblue | Part of me is wondering if Doak is a smokescreen. Previously we've been linked with one player, then swoop for another which hasn't been reported. Edit - been, not beem. [Post edited 3 Jan 21:32]

In this instance I hope not. Think you’re over thinking it. Fits the profile and exactly the type of player we should be looking to sign and develop. His game time at Liverpool will be very limited given their squad. A bigger question is can we fight of the like of Palace and other established clubs.

I'd like to think we can fight against Palace. They are ahead of us, but not miles and somewhere we can be in a few years. The fact he would play and Carrick will promote Kieran and just look at what he has done to Delap and Omari - hopefully he can see that trajectory for him with the same coaching. I dont see the same level at Palace

Plus a £25m buy-back clause.... on 21:02 - Jan 3 by FrimleyBlue | Or the buying club don't be stupid originally and agree to a buyback for anyless than 3 x the fee you're paying |
Problem is the odds are usually stacked against the buying club.

£16m bid rejected for Ben Doak… on 19:38 - Jan 3 by football | Looks to have legs but Palace have also put in a bid of £15m by all accounts. He's a great player so if we can beat a potential regelation team to his signature then all good. Anyone got Fridge's number to get him to do some inside work? |
Having legs would be the bare minimum for a footballer, I'd have thought.
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

Palace bid £15M, we upped to £16M ... makes you think that the supposed £30M being reported by some journos is probably wide of the mark.

£16m bid rejected for Ben Doak… on 19:11 - Jan 3 by Swansea_Blue | Silly money considering he’s done nothing so far (in terms of the PL) and hasn’t even played a season of professional football yet. But it seems KM is being brave in sticking to his plan for developing players. Will it be enough? Is this guy likely to have an impact like Omari or Delap? |
Wow, really? Silly money for a kid that good!? Top top level player. Had a few injuries which is the question mark. Not his ability. Been outstanding for boro and made huge impact for Liverpool already (in terms of how he is rated after games played). Scotland seem him as their best talent in years. We were never getting him for that. His ceiling is very high. Liverpool will want to guard against the Cole Palmer type regret in any deal. Imagine some sort of buy back or something.

£16m bid rejected for Ben Doak… on 19:34 - Jan 3 by le2blue | Will be a fabulous signing. Him setting up Delap with Philogene on the other side and Omari behind will br something else. Heard that Carrick would like Jack Clarke, not sure we’d be up for loosing him. |
Mad that we could potentially have the following 2 lineups if these deals come off: Walton Godfrey O'Shea Greaves Davis Phillips Cajuste Doak Hutchinson Philogene Delap Muric Axel Woolfy Burgess Townsend Morsy Taylor Burns Broadhead Szmodics Hirst That's before a new 9, and still doesn't find room for J. Clarke, Chaplin, Johnson. Harry Clarke & Al-Hamadi out on loan & Ogbene de-registered to create some space. Massimo will be out of the picture as well.

Liverpool want £30M apparently, which is stupid money in my humble opinion. (BBC gossip column)

Tom Fellows at WBA for one. I wonder how much Southampton would want for Dibling but he will no doubt be going to one of the big 6.

Yes but the fact that Liverpool are putting an asking price out there is saying strongly they are prepared to sell. They won’t achieve £30m and they know it.

Chelsea wanted that for Hutchinson in the summer don’t they?
