So. Ben doak... £30 mill on 23:06 - Jan 6 with 5651 views | NeverSayDie | If the stakeholders feel he can provide a definite boost to our survival hopes, then absolutely yes. All of the summer signings costs are covered by the £140 million payments we are guaranteed through promotion over the next 3 years, BUT survive just one season and that figure rises to £300 million, that’s a hell of a carrot and gives us an opportunity to strengthen, first season is the hardest to overcome. I reckon they’d take £23 mil to £25 mil [Post edited 6 Jan 23:18]

I'm not sure £8M would get you close to Fellows given that they rejected 10+ in the summer. You could probably get him somewhere close to 15M but I still feel that would be a better deal than 30M for Doak. That being said, I think the Doak deal will probably end up somewhere close to the Omari deal, 18M + 5M in add ons.

You are probably right, but this will be a competitive process with Palace involved (and they still haven’t replaced Olise) so will need to pay up for the player FWIW I had heard the championship watchers rave about Doak earlier this season and thought he might be one we would go for given his profile and am delighted we are in for him - and Pat Nevin was absolutely raving about him when he played for Scotland

I'd certainly have Omari ahead of Doak - Omari is not only brilliant at dribbling and crossing, he has end product, which hasn't been much in evidence with Doak. Even comparing Doak now to Omari last season, Omari was ahead. And Omari is really good at tracking back and tackling. All things that maybe Doak could add to his game, but if Omari was £18M + add-ons last season, Doak should be less.

I agree that Omari is currently a better player but he's also two years older then Doak. When Omari was 19 he was playing in the PL2. Doak is a stand out player in the Championship and fully capped international which all adds to his value ... On the end product I'm not so sure. 2 goals, 6 assists feels like a pretty good return in 21 games for a 19YO. Averaged out over the season that would be 13 assists & 4 goals which would put him pretty much on par with Omari last year who had 5 assists & 10 goals.

So. Ben doak... £30 mill on 11:00 - Jan 7 with 3677 views | dirtyboy | Doak is very impressive at carrying the ball up the pitch and is very fast. Given we're now sitting a bit deeper, that ability to get up the pitch quicker is more important. McKenna will have identified his attributes and placed a fair significance on it. No idea how much is in this but you can understand the interest.

I suspect a bid of £20m, rising to £25m with add ons, and a sell on of 10-20% would do it; Liverpool have invited further bids rather than shut them down as out of the question, so they are prepared to do business at a 'slightly' higher level. Any suggestion of a low value buy back option, should be met with a firm kick to the goolies, metaphorically, of course.
