I really like Hirsty. However please don’t get me wrong, I know it’s not his fault but it feels as though he has been injured for about half of that time.
If we can get him fit and he can keep himself fit for the rest of the season, he’ll be like a new signing.

The style and level of football we played in League One was ridiculous for that division.
Our form towards the end of that season was utterly ridiculous. And we pretty much did the same in the championship. We’ve been treated to a KM masterclass. As Brenner said at his summing up of the Hudds game “it shouldn’t have happened.”

Myself and my two sons who live in Nottingham all travelled down that night. Crap game but a night we still laugh about because of that handball shout
This was THE game that I thought it was on. After the Lord Mayors show as we’d walked Charlton 3 days before. Port Vale, managerless, should have been a walk over. It wasn’t but the lads dug it out. Broadys’ pen up there with the most vital moments in Club history. Didn’t Burns throttle Crazee in the celebrations? Last season, the dull victory at Blackburn said the same to me. Vital results both.

I hope we do sign a striker soon, not just to be available but so we can take our time in brining Hirst back, I think he would do as well in the prem as delap has with time but needs to be fit.

He's been injured, out of form, or recovering from injury almost the entire time with the club tbh, subsequently he has provided very few goals and seen very few minutes on the pitch compared to most others.
Love him to bits, but things just haven't gone right on this one, so far.

He has played 60 games for us in 2 years. He was absolutely vital for us in the League One run in and our brilliant start in the championship - one of the best ever starts. Of course things went right!
The last 12 months have been frustrating injury wise for sure, but lets not erase his contribution.

His contribution at the end of the League 1 season was great, but in truth, it is the only time he has been effective at the club unfortunately, I'm not knocking the guy, just think sometimes emotion gets in the way of reality and that's definitely the case with Hirsty.
Looking at the league games, he's appeared in way less than 60 and actually been on the pitch for less than half the minutes of those games, so the poster above in the thread wasn't wrong when he said, in jest I feel, that it felt like he'd missed half the games, he has actually missed more than half, pitch time anyway. The "dry run" has been more like 18 months now too, rather than 12.

He’s made 55 league appearances for us, thats not ‘way less’ than 60. And we’ve only played 87 in that time so hardly like he’s missed the majority. The minutes point may be accurate (I don’t have the time to check) but then given McKenna regularly changes the whole front 4 during games that’s not a huge surprise, Delap is probably a lot closer to 50% of mins than he is 100%
And the dry run of 18 months is just b*llocks. Even if you ignore this season (8 apps and available most of the time, just superseded by better players in the PL), and the back end of last season (vital contribution in the run in), it was Boxing Day against Leicester that suffered his injury, so just over 12 months ago
Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

I don't want to pi55 you off, things seem to be heading down the wrong path here. I love the guy, but IMO he is one of those that has been taken to our hearts, despite perhaps not justifying it based on minutes and goals etc. Perfectly fine if you don't agree, it's just my view of him.
I'd imagine Delap has played a lot more than you think tbh, given injuries to Hirst and Ali, hence the reason we are working so hard to find another front man this window.

Another weirdo rears their head. You're really saying that the signing of a player critical to both promotions has 'has not gone right'? Just really!? I'd also like to ask at which point he's been out of form?

Mixed emotions for me that night. As we were sitting in the pub in Barnsley prior to the match we received news that a long time friend and fellow town supporter had lost his battle with cancer and would no longer be with us on our away day adventures. He would have loved every second of what has followed.
