He’s not quite in the same Triassic time period as Dyche, Pulis, Alladyce or Super Mick. My fear is, he’ll get enough out of that ragtag squad to keep them above us. Add to that, he has credit in the bank from his previous time there, so he won’t be suffering the abuse straight away, that Dyche was getting on a weekly basis. On a personal note, I hope he crashes and burns. He ‘guest’ coached our pub team for a couple of pre-season sessions, way back in the 80s when he was a bug ugly no-mark playing for Bristol City. He was a complete and utter bas*ard, made us do a professional training session and properly pis*ed himself laughing when several of us puked up.

Forum poll on Moyes; January window impact on 20:51 - Jan 9 with 3479 views | unstableblue | So the Everton forum asks: “The Return of Moyes, happy or not?: Yes - 23% No - 42% Meh, needs must - 35% Hardly the ushering of a positive survival leader!! Also what does this mean for their Jan window? There was talk of 5 players leaving, trying to get rid of Beto to free funds for a MUCH needed striker. Was Dyche leading recruitment? Or is there a strong football structure. Would players - like Philogene - be interested by a team in such flux?

He coached your pub team? A European trophy winning manager? Blimey that's a claim

Must be others of us on here coached by famous managers when they were taking their first steps in coaching. Kevin Wilson was my brother's manager when he was about 13 (my brother, not Jocky).

The old Treble Chance pub in Southmead, Bristol. Don’t even know if it still exists. Charm offensive by Bristol City at the time. Get their players interacting with the community. Bear in mind it was nearly forty years ago and not one of us would have bet a pint of Dry Blackthorn that he’d ever make a decent coach, let alone manage a top division team to a European trophy. I’m sure Calvert Lewin will agree as he parks his breakfast on the edge of the training pitch..

Ragtag doesn't mean lacking quality necessarily, just disjointed and mismatched, they've still got many players they've spent £15/20 million plus on, plus England's goalkeeper and supposedly England's future centre back everyone is after. We're playing catch up and trying in one season what even clubs like Everton, see also palace and wolves have spent tens of millions on players over the past ten seasons.

They have some big, experienced lumps and some decent players. Most importantly, they are top division savvy in those crucial moments. That ragtag Everton team pretty much coasted it against us. Same story with West Ham and Crystal Palace. Ugly, functional units but with the advantage of knowing how to do just enough in those marginal matches against the new boys. We’ll learn those dark arts if we can survive this season, much like Forest have.
